Yeonjun stared at the newcomer, two thoughts only.

I'm not the only one on this island?

And?

Damn.

It was a young man who seemed around his age. He had black hair just like him, a sharp v-shaped jaw, and intense big eyes.

And he was wearing an outfit similar to Yeonjun's, just with different colors, and had a briefcase in his hand.

For what, Yeonjun had no idea.

The man gawked back at Yeonjun, glancing at him from head to toe.

Yeonjun stood there, dumbfounded.

"Hello?" the man repeated.

Was Yeonjun in way too much shock to fully register that the man was talking to him?

Yes.

Heck he thought he was just imagining his voice until he snapped out of it.

"Umm, hey, I didn't know there were people living on this island," he decided to say, making weird hand motions as an attempt at sign language.

The man stared at him.

Yeonjun, unaware of the gestures he was unconsciously doing, found the silence really awkward, especially in the midst of the bird chittering and the wind blowing.

What a mood change in ten seconds.

"Choi Yeonjun," he said, pointing at himself.

The man perched his left brow, giving Yeonjun a look that read 'are you kidding me?'

Except that's not what came out.

"Are you high?"

That one hundred percent snapped Yeonjun out of it.

"Uh, no, I'm not!" he exclaimed.

Sure.

"I can speak, and I can hear in case you were wondering."

"Why would you think that?"

"Your weird attempt at sign language," the man replied.

Yeonjun glanced at his hands, seeing that he was in fact making strange motions with them.

"Oh."

He blushed in embarrassment, tucking his hands away while sheepishly looking at the man before him.

Now that I think of it... his dialect isn't from Seoul.

"And yes, there's other people on this island aside from you. Sorry to disappoint you."

Yeonjun, to the stranger's surprise, gasped in delight.

"Ooo how nice! Looks like I have made a friend!"

"What? We're not friends," the man said, starting to walk away.

"Wait!"

Yeonjun followed him (and ignored what he said about being friends).

"Are you going to your shelter?" he asked.

"There's only one. So, yeah."

"Ooo goodie! I was looking for it, but then I kinda got distracted by the gorgeous scenery, and I wanna turn in for the night, you know?"

The man rolled his eyes.

He's so talkative.

"Well... you can come along I guess."
