Laughing, they embarrassingly scratched their necks.
"You first," Beomgyu said.
"No, you first this time. I spoke at dinner first, now it's your turn."
Beomgyu exhaled.
"Well..."
He fiddled with his fingers.
"W.O.W discovered the island by accident two months ago. One of our scientists went by helicopter to Alaska in the US, because he studies the migration of marine animals, and when he flew back to Daegu, he and the pilot saw it. So they landed here, and looked around."
"Wait, your company discovered this island?!" Yeonjun exclaimed.
Beomgyu nodded.
"The scientist didn't stay for long, but he reported it back to our boss, who let the house be built. It didn't take very long, as we got enough money from our recent studies, and then we left it like that for a month."
"Until... I assume you came along?" Yeonjun asked.
"That's right."
"Were you chosen for this mission?"
Beomgyu shook his head.
"Not exactly."
"Cuz that's what happened to me. I was chosen by my boss because she said I might be able to continue my interests here, as there should be some prehistoric artifacts around here. Probably because evolution has to do with prehistoric times."
"Ah."
Beomgyu glanced up at the sky, his eyes reflecting its dancing colors.
"I wanted to come here," he then admitted.
Yeonjun looked at him.
"In what context?"
"When I heard that there was an island, surrounded by the ocean for miles and nothing else... I just wanted to go. Get away from the human world, and find some rest on my own. And luckily... I could."
"Oh..."
Yeonjun looked away and at the sky.
"I must have interrupted that then."
And it was quiet except for the ocean.
"No you didn't."
Yeonjun glanced back at Beomgyu, surprised.
"I didn't?"
Beomgyu shook his head.
And his next action threw Yeonjun off, but in a good and comforting way. Beomgyu bent down and hugged Yeonjun around his waist, snuggling closer.
"Now that we've talked a bit more... I'm glad I met you, and that you became my friend."
Yeonjun dusted pink when he heard those words. He carefully wrapped an arm around Beomgyu too, holding him close as it was getting a little chilly, and he was cold himself.
"I... I guess I'm glad you're warming up to me."
Beomgyu smiled.
"I know."
They continued looking at the northern lights, Yeonjun slightly wondering how they were able to see them. And somehow, Beomgyu could guess his thoughts.
"Wanna know why we can see them?" he asked.
"Sure," Yeonjun replied.
"Well, looking at the coordinates of this island, we are up towards the north, so not too far from the arctic either."
"Ohhh..."
Yeonjun raised a brow.
"But the island is tropical..."
"True. I dunno, it's weird but amazing at the same time," Beomgyu laughed.
"Yeah."
Yeonjun usually would break into a discussion when it comes to those types of things, but for once, he decided to not question it.
After all, he was able to spend this wonderful moment with Beomgyu, and also with a strangely fast-paced heart.
And yeah, in the end they forgot about what they actually came for.
