"not to agree with Ice Queen-"
"hey!"
"but she's right. Ruby is not good at studying the majority of the time. unless it's about weapons."
"perhaps she has someone on her mind?" Ren quickly inquired, causing all those in the conversation to let out a hum in thought.
"i mean it's possible but..." Pyrrha lightly added, wondering just who could have been the target to Ruby's thoughts. "But who could it be?"
"i don't know."
"what i do know is that i will break their legs if i have to!" Nora replied with a grin, almost as if eager.
they gave Nora a deadpan look before looking back at Ruby. she didn't even notice the 7 staring her down with confusion and curiosity, that's how far down in her thoughts she was. Jaune made notice of how her pencil moved across the paper which he couldn't see.
"i think she's drawing."
"Ruby? drawing? she's awful at it." Yang responded. "...but it's possible."
little did they know Jaune was spot on. she was drawing. drawing the boy she had just become aware of the night before. she wanted to make sure this was perfect. tracing the outline, taking it slowly and cautiously. she didn't want to forget what he looked like otherwise she wouldn't be able to find him!
whilst normally her scribbles would be furious, leading to an abomination of a drawing, she actually took a mass amount of care and precision into this. it had to be perfect, or good. she'd hope for perfect though. in fact, she was surprising herself. the drawing was good. really good. all she needed now was some colours so it would be an exact replica.
her gaze left her drawing when someone slid over to her. it was her half-sister, clearly wondering what she's doing. Ruby was unaware that she was 'off' to them today.
"what ya doing sis?" Yang asked with a whisper, trying to peek over the textbook Ruby was hiding to see inside. it was unsuccessful.
"i'm drawing."
Yang blinked. she truly didn't expect Ruby to be drawing of all things. now her curiosity was piqued. even if it was before.
"drawing what?"
"um...nothing." Ruby responded, feeling partially embarrassed now. if she told Yang the truth, there;s a chance Yang would tease Ruby about it. and she does not want that right now.
Ruby's friends looked at each other. something was definitely off.
-------
it was combat class. Ruby's finished the drawing and has been thinking ever since. she didn't actually think about this before but...how the fuck will she actually find out about him? all she knows is his first name. that'll make it very hard to even found out about (Y/n).
she stared off unto space, ignoring Goodwitch for the first time ever in the class. her thoughts were too occupied, too demanding to pay attention to class. which is not normal for her. in this class she's hyper focused. but for the first time, she's not. that made her friends even more curious about what's going on with her today. like what's made Ruby this out of it? actually doing something during Port's lesson, then not listening during the class she enjoys the most?
in fact, she completely missed Goodwitch's announcement about how two guests were coming in today. they were professional huntsmen and they were going to offer some tips whilst fighting. whilst also talking about being huntsman.
but Ruby missed that. she just stared off into space, completely out of it. in a normal situation, she'd love hearing about those experiences and getting tips from active huntsman but....today it just didn't work for her.
