Can you please do LA snotlout x reader where reader is a perfectionist and gets mad when she finds she's not "good enough" at something and it kind of stems from like have a very strict mom who wants her daughter to be perfect or she's disappointed (you obviously don't have to but I love ur work so freaking much and I completely understand if you ignore this) thank youuuuu
Ooh this one has been in my inbox for a hot minute 😭😭😭
So live action Snotlout, but let's have it take place in Riders of Berk! Guys I can only write the script to the LA movie into my writing so many times 😭😭
Thawfest. You usually did not compete in the games because... well you would rather die than not win. If you didn't participate you couldn't lose and your mother wouldn't be disappointed in you. Of course you had skills. You refused to do anything unless you were perfect.
However... this year was different, because this year... dragons were part of the games, and your mother said you had to do them this year.
So here you were, practicing everything you could to win. You had to win. You couldn't disappoint her.
You were a great archer, hitting bullseye every single time, but they didn't have archery, they had axe throwing. So you were in the forest, practicing throwing axes at the trees. The heavy weapons were scattered across the tree not even close to where you wanted them to hit:
Velita, your dragon, cooed besides you, and you sighed.
"I know girl... just one more round I wanna be prepared I... I can't lose..." you whispered, collecting your axes.
You heard the crunch of leave and jumped, turning, throwing an axe to where the noise was, the sound of the blade sticking in the tree echoing around you both.
"Woah! Woah, just me just me," Snotlout laughed nervously, hands up in mock surrender, looking back at the axe in the tree.
The axes clattered to the floor as your hands went up to your face.
"I am so so sorry I-"
"Hey no worries... sooooo... you gonna cheer me on like always? Y'know I can't win the Thawfest games if I don't have my favorite girl cheering me on!" He gave you a dorky smile and looked at you with his puppy dog eyes, waiting for the "of course I will, just like always!" You gave him every year.
"I uh... I can't," you whispered, scared of his reaction. What if he got upset with you?
There was a moment of silence. While you were wondering if he would be upset you were competing, he was freaking out internally because... what if you were deciding to cheer on Hiccup because of the dragon portion?!
"My mom is uh... making me compete..."
"Oh thank the gods-... I mean uh... cool but you will never beat me and Hookfang! C-cuz... we're the best!" He smirked, Hookfang letting a puff of smoke go towards you.
"That's what I'm scared of..."
——
You had been practicing day and night for the games, but you still lost. Not even a singular point on the board, and your trick was... well it was definitely better than Fishlegs's that's for sure...
But it didn't matter. You cheered on Snotlout during the race, especially when he won, but that didn't mean you weren't upset.
It was later during the night when you yelled angrily, throwing rocks, and used one of the axes on the tree, hot angry tears streaming down your face. You didn't want to go home because all that would await you was disappointment and silence. You knew she wouldn't talk to you, she'd ignore you. Because you were an embarrassment if you weren't perfect.
"Gotta be good... gotta be great gotta be perfect why,"
A hit.
"Can't."
Another.
"I just..."
And another.
"Be perfect!?"
The tree had a deep indent where you had been hitting it, jagged wood around it, splinters and chips on the ground and in your clothes.
You scream angrily, making Velita look over in concern, as she nuzzles into your side. You hear a branch snap and turn quickly, drying your tears.
Snotlout is standing there, looking nervous, his brown puppy eyes staring at you, making you momentarily forget your anger. He was wearing the medal he had earned today and for some reason, that flared your anger up.
"Come to talk about your glory huh?" You snapped, glaring at him.
He stammered, "Wh-what? No! No no no, I-i just you left so suddenly I didn't... Gods no, Y/N what-"
"Yeah because I can't stand-"
You stopped and took a breath. It wasn't his fault. It was hers.
"I'm sorry... I just my mom... she wants me to be perfect she wanted me to win and I... I didn't and now I'm a disappointment and sh-she won't talk to me until I win something again until I'm perfect and I-"
His eyes widened softly, how could anyone be mean to you? You were wonderful... but then again his father made the same points about him so he understood more than anyone else what that was like.
Then he thought about all the other times you'd been so anxious about trying something or how upset you got if you didn't do it right the first time. He had seen you say you sucked and couldn't do it if you couldn't do it the first time. It all made sense now.
"...Remember the first time you met Velita?" He asked softly, his hand on your shoulder.
"...yeah... of course I do. It was the best day ever besides Hiccup almost dying-"
"Remember how you fell?"
You looked up sharply, utter embarrassment coursing through your veins at his remembrance of the moment. You had tried to climb on her back, but fell off immediately.
"Instead of giving up you tried again right? What if you had never tried again? Where would we be now?" He asked softly.
You looked at the boy and smiled. He was right. Had you given up, where would you be? No Velita and your friends would have moved on without you.
"Just sayin-"
"You're a muttonhead... but you're my mutton head... thank you Snotlout," you mumble, shoving his shoulder playfully.
He laughs, and picks you up. He understood more than anyone else what it was like to have a parent you always want to impress but never being able to. He understands the pressure of being perfect. And it was scary to hi. That you didn't see how wonderful and perfect you were already, even if you didn't win. As you laughed and let him carry you back to the village, he felt your lips press to his cheek.
"That's for making me feel better... thank you." You whispered, hiding your face in the crook of his neck.
He smiled and shrugged, "It's not a problem, after all I am Snotlout Jorgenson, of house Jorgenson only the bestest my clan has to offer-"
Gods he was an idiot, but he was your idiot...
"Y'know if you're bad at kissing you can try that again and again with me I won't mind-"
