When you arrived at Camp Jupiter around 7 years ago, the same day as Octavian, you weren't exactly... expecting much. The boy was isolated from most, not well liked even from the first day he was there. Octavian came off as rude and arrogant... and he was.

"Hi... my name is Y/N L/N.... It's nice to meet you," you whispered to him, holding a cute little white bunny plushie.

"Hello. I'm-"

"Octavian, Y/N. Pleasure to meet you both. Welcome to Camp Jupiter."

You were shy, and hid behind the boy you had just met.

"Don't hide behind me-" he hissed, trying to move away.

"Please don't make me..." you whispered, a hint of tearyness to your tone.

The boy stopped. He had never really interacted with others his age as he had been trained almost his whole life by his parents putting pressure on him. He had just been in the Wolf House and survived Lupa's training, and to see you hiding pissed him off a bit. At the same time, he felt bad.

Against his better judgment he let you hide behind him, stepping in front of you as you clutched onto his shirt.

"We can be friends...?" You asked quietly.

He was shocked.

"Um... I-... I... I'm not..." he stammered, as you walked around the camp. "...Okay."

He quickly rose the ranks, much like you did... Or at least, much like you wished you had. You were in the first cohort, just like him. No matter how much you tried, he would never reciprocate your kindness in full. Yet he listened, and he was a lot kinder to you than he was to others. There was something that royally pissed you off about the boy... But there was something so painfully sad about him. You understood.

As a daughter of Discordia, you often got a bad reputation. People tolerated you. Sure, you were nice and kind to everyone, but that didn't matter...

One slip of the tongue was enough to make people hate you for a week, no matter how hard you tried.

So you tried to be soft spoken, gentle, and kind. Patient with all of the campers especially the new ones and the little ones. It didn't matter. Because to them, you were just a ticking time bomb.

"Y/N, you are now in charge of whatever the hell Octavian is getting himself into," Reyna said, shooting you a look as you two walked through the camp.

You sighed, "Why me? I do not have a high position... I suppose I am in the senate, but I can't even call myself a centurion or preator so why me?"

She shrugged, "He listens to you. I don't know why."

This was true. With a sigh, you make a stop at your cohort before making the long trek to the temple where the young augur stood in front of his altar, with a teddy bear in hand.

"Octavian. Put the teddy down," You commanded.

The blonde scoffed at your intrusion.

"Why are you here?" he asks rudely, putting the ceremonial dagger down with a harsh slam on the altar.

He truly was just a petulant child... but he was your petulant child and possibly only true friend.

"Reyna officially made me 'one in charge of your bullshit.' So put it down," you said again.

A younger camper comes in, sniffling and crying. Their teddy had gone missing and they saw you come in here. You look at the pile of stuffed animals at the blonde boy's feet. The younger camper cowered behind you, terrified of Octavian. Walking closer, you pick the stuffed toys up and forcefully take the one in Octavian's hand.
