They waited for the APD to arrive on scene. The officers began putting out the fire and taping off the area.
"Can you explain what happened here today?" An officer asked as he walked up to Dokja and Joonghyuk.
Before Dokja could come up with a lie that wouldn't cause Joonghyuk to confine him to the guild for the rest of his days, Lee Gilyoung spoke up from behind him.
"Dokja saved us! He saw us getting kidnapped by bad espers and kicked their butts!"
"Yeah!" Shin Yoosung added, "He fought off two C-class espers with just a sword! But then a more powerful esper used some kind of sleeping power on him."
The kids kept explaining the events with excitement, making Dokja sound way cooler than he was. Dokja nervously sweat dropped as they talked, he knew they didn't mean to, but they were digging him into a very deep hole with every word they spoke.
"And then he caused the A class esper to rampage! The whole building went up in flames cause of that! Dokja helped us escape with an invisibility potion. While Paul got his butt whooped!" Lee Gilyoung finished happily.
Joonghyuk just glared more as the officer began writing up her report and confirmed with Dokja that what the children said is true.
"I'd also look into the orphanage they're from, it sounds like they are working with the kidnappers to sell awakened children." Dokja added.
"Thank you Sir, unfortunately, because it's so uncommon for children to awaken before their teens, there's not as much protection for them. It's common for awakened children to be exploited." The officer sighed,
"It's a good thing you were there to help these two, but are you sure you can handle taking care of two esper kids?" She questioned.
Dokja looked down at the two kids still clutching his coat. "Yeah, I can handle it."
The officer looked like she wanted to say something else, but didn't know how.
"What is it?" Dokja asked.
"Unfortunately... Guides aren't legally allowed to have guardianship over espers. You'll need an adult esper to sign the release forms." The officer explained.
Dokja huffed, of course there would be a law like that.
He looked over at the angry sunfish.
"No." Joonghyuk said.
"Please." Dokja said with his puppy dog eyes.
"After learning that you not only snuck out without permission, but purposefully got yourself involved in a human trafficking incident and burned a building down, you expect me to adopt two esper children like they're stray dogs you found on the street?" Joonghyuk grumbled.
The two kids looked up at the angry esper as well, combining their puppy dog eyes with Dokja's.
Joonghyuk's eye twitched in annoyance.
"Fine, but don't expect me to take care of them, and they aren't staying in the penthouse." Joonghyuk relented with a huff.
Dokja smiled happily as the children cheered.
The officer handed Joonghyuk the guardianship paperwork to fill out.
"Don't think this conversation is over Dokja Kim. We'll be having a long talk when we get back to the guild." He said without looking up from the paperwork.
Dokja smiled nervously. He was not looking forward to that.
They drove in a guild SUV back to Skybreaker tower. The kids were amazed as they stared up at the gigantic building.
"They aren't staying with us. We'll drop them off with Sangah and Sooyoung." Joonghyuk sighed.
They knocked on their door, it was currently six o'clock in the morning.
"What do you want so early!" Sooyoung answered with a grumble, still rubbing her eyes sleepily.
She looked at Joonghyuk's angry face, then to Dokja, who had soot and dirt all over his face and looked like he hadn't slept all night (because he hadn't) and then down to the two kids staring up at her, equally covered in dirt and soot.
She blinked in confusion. "What the Hell?"
"Take care of these two kids." Joonghyuk ordered as he pushed them forward into the apartment.
"WHAT?! Where did they even come from! Whose kids are they?! Hey?! Don't just leave! Come back here!" Sooyoung yelled as Joonghyuk started walking away.
"I'll come by to check on them later." Dokja said as he patted the kids heads.
"Listen to Aunt Sooyoung ok? I'll be back as soon as I can."
The two kids nodded as they gave him a hug.
"Hey I'm not a babysitter! Just because you call me aunt don't think I'll just accept these two runts into my home!"
"Aunt Sooyoung, you look cool! Are you a powerful esper?" Gilyoung asked her.
Sooyoung looked down at the boy, "Ok, fine. They can stay. This boy has good taste." She smiled smugly as she let them inside and closed the door.
Sangah walked into the room as the door closed.
"Who was that so early in the..." Sangah stopped as she looked at the two kids.
"We have a niece and nephew now." Sooyoung stated simply as she lead the kids on a tour.
Sangah looked confused before smiling at the kids. "Ok."
