Loona noticed, and pulled back. The beautiful smile that had adorned her face was wiped away as she was reminded of what had happened earlier that night.

"Sorry," she said, and she retreated from the kitchen. She still kept her eyes on you, but they were filled with guilt. She thought you were flinching away from her because of what she had done.

"It's okay," you reassured her. "I didn't mind. It's just...I forgot, you know? Not about what had happened, but...I forgot I wasn't a real Hellhound for a moment there."

Loona's eyes shimmered for a second. You couldn't tell what that was. Hope, maybe? She looked hesitant, and like she wanted to say something. She might not have if she was a different person, but she was a wolf who spoke what came to her mind. So she did.

"You looked happy when you forgot. Do you...wish you were a real Hellhound?" she asked, still hesitant, but speaking clearly and confidently.

"No."

Loona's seemed disappointed at your response, and her shoulders fell a little.

"Not because I think it's bad!" you said quickly. "But Hellhounds are treated horribly." You paused. "You know that. I didn't need to say that. Sorry."

"It's okay," Loona said, echoing back your reassuring words for her from before. You nodded, but remained steadfast in your opinion.

"If I wasn't a Hellhound, then I wouldn't be able to make deals. I wouldn't be able to become an Overlord. I wouldn't be able to help...you."

The "you" at the end of your sentence referred not just to Loona, but to the entirety of her species. But the way you said it...it was yet another reminder of how she was one of your primary motivations for becoming an Overlord. Loona recognized this, and her heart beat just a little faster. Her eyes flicked to some speck on the wall. She stared at it for about a minute, before she swallowed hard and met your eyes again.

"I'm...okay with it now," Loona said. "you becoming an Overlord. I know I said I was before, but I didn't mean it. I wanted you to stop. But now I don't."

Loona's cheeks grew pink once more. You stood there for a moment, drinking in what she had said. You hadn't made quite made the connection yet as to why she had said that, but her words meant a lot to you. Like, a lot a lot. You felt your chest begin to tighten, and your cheeks flush. This felt...right. That you doing this for her, and she was supporting you in turn. You started to feel a bit daring, and the tightness in your chest turned to a pounding feeling. You opened your mouth, preparing to let something stupid leave it once again.

"Hey, would you maybe..." you trailed off, and Loona's ears perked up curiously. Your confidence that you had felt quickly started to crumble, but you felt you needed to say this. "Sorry. I mean, would you want to—"

You were cut off by the timer on the oven going off. You quickly spun around, grabbed some mittens, and opened the oven. The beeping had been a wake-up call, and you used it as an excuse to gather your thoughts. When your back was turned to Loona, you felt your face flush again. Stupid, stupid! Of course she wouldn't want to! you scolded yourself. You took a deep breath before taking the sheet out, standing up, and closing the oven.

When you turned back around, hot baking sheet with pizza in hand, you found that Loona had crept back into the kitchen. She was standing much closer now, and you jumped back, suddenly worried that you would burn her with the hot metal in your grip.

"OH FUCK!" you screamed. Loona's ears flattened and she winced at your voice. "Shit, Loona. You scared me. I didn't want to burn you."

You hadn't noticed before, but Loona's cheeks had gone red when you had begun to ask your question before. They were now a deep crimson at the words that had just left your mouth. She seemed to ignore what you had said, and crept just a little bit closer, careful to avoid touching the baking sheet. You were suddenly very aware of the height disparity between you two. You were about the same size, but she was still taller. It was honestly a bit intimidating now. Loona began to ask a question, her voice barely above a whisper.
