So, a bit of a different idea with this one. I'll be writing from the perspective of having not yet achieved Overlord status yet, but still in the throes of working for it. If you want a chapter with the fully established Overlord status, feel free to request it!

It was the week after you had torn a sinner's arm from their body. It had been in a moment of weakness. He had reminded you of the injustices Hellhounds faced, and he had caused you to momentarily dip into a vengeful fury. You hadn't been yourself. It was if your entire reality had shifted since then, and you were in a dream-like state. But your afterlife went on.

You were thankful that you were able to disappear from work under the guise that you were meeting with potential clients (which was true), but you still struggled to maintain the routine of opening a portal for Blitzø and Loona to return from a mission, closing said portal, then disappearing shortly after to don your "Overlord Kerberos" disguise. It was difficult doing all of that, and still keeping your deal-making shenanigans from Loona. If you left too early, or seemed too quick to leave once she had returned from a mission, she might get suspicious and start making connections. It seriously started to eat away at the time you had before getting to the sinner.

Eventually you started testing how far you could go. One time you left immediately after the father-daughter duo got back from a kill. Loona hadn't seemed to notice. So you did it again, and Loona didn't notice again. It seemed she was always buried in her phone after a mission, or riding a high from the thrill the job gave her. She never paid attention to the convenient timing of when you left, and never made the connection between the fact that you always had to meet a "client" soon after a murder.

It was when you had collected your 126thth soul (the 13th soul in a row where you had left directly after Loona returned) and had returned to I.M.P., that something was different.

...

Loona was just settling down from yet another exciting kill. She had literally just torn somebody in half, and had been able to take advantage of how stunned it made the second marked victim to gut them shortly after. She relaxed into her usual spot on the waiting room couch. She glanced up at your empty desk. She was eager to share with you the gruesome tale of her fierceness, but became disappointed when she noticed your absence.

It had been like that for a while now. You would often disappear when Loona came back from a hit, and despite not showing it, she had become increasingly agitated that she couldn't celebrate her kills with her best friend. There was even a part of her that was irrationally angry at you, as she saw it as your responsibility to be there for her. You had been the one to replace her at the desk, after all. You were supposed to be here, and you were supposed to listen to her when she was happy! It's not like she showed it that often...

Despite having only just sat down, Loona got up from the couch to bug Blitzø. If she couldn't talk to you about how great the mission went, she was damn sure she was going to complain to her dad of your absence. She looked around, but Blitzø had already disappeared. She hadn't heard his office door close, so Loona figured he was either in the break or conference room. She found him in the latter, talking to M&M.

"Blitzø!" Loona shouted angrily, interrupting the conversation between the three imps.

Moxxie jumped, while Millie and Blitzø looked up at her with a confused expression. It felt alienating to her. Being the only one upset, as well as the only one of her height and species around. Great, Loona thought. Yet another reason to wish (Y/N) was here. At least then I wouldn't feel like a fucking stranger in my own workplace.

"Where the fuck is (Y/N)?!" Loona growled at Blitzø, putting voice to her thoughts. Though of course she wouldn't tell any of them why she wanted to see you.
