Loona smirked once again.
"Because, if we agree that we'll no longer make the carrier deal, we'll have to communicate that to our Hellhounds. They'll be angry, and potentially be in open rebellion against the Overlords. Even if we tried to stop them, we have no control over Hellborn. They lack souls."
Loona looked to you. You nodded, understanding that she wanted tour solidarity in this, to assert your power. With three brains, you could quickly think of more reasons why the Overlords should let you continue the deal, as well inform them of methods that could quell that fear of rebellion.
"We predict most will obey, but as we've said, we lack control over them. Some sinners informed of the deal will also most likely rebel, refusing to let their soul be taken by a less than accommodating Overlord," you began, right head still glaring at Vox, who was now hiding behind the other V's. He was trying to look like he had taken a strategic position, but it was obvious he was terrified that you had singled him out.
"It's unlikely these sinners will inform new sinners, as we've always had to rely on Hellhounds to get forsaken souls to work together. So those worries will take care of themselves. We can't stop the spread of information, so for the few Hellhounds that do actively rebel, we'll accept their carrier deals still, to prevent them from further acting out of turn. It'll be an...outlet, if you will. Of course, when it comes to all of this, we also demand that Hellhounds not be driven out of your territories. The actions of the few should not bring punishment upon the many."
At "the few," you gestured towards the V's with your still-glaring right head. At "the many," you gestured towards the rest of the Overlords with your left and center head. It was an obvious threat, but one intended to turn the majority of Overlords on the V's. With someone less threatening to blame, surely, they'd be more amenable to the deal.
Carmilla looked at all of the Overlords.
"This seems...agreeable. Are we all in favor?"
Val slowly started to raise his hand, but Vox smacked it down when the other Overlords glared at him. The majority talked to each other, murmuring once again, until they stopped, nodding in unison. The shook hands with each other, passing their agreement down the table in small exchanges until it reached Carmilla.
That was when you noticed Loona's trick. In getting the Overlords focused on the policy of the carrier deal, and the potential rebellion that came with fully stopping it, she had distracted them from realizing that they had agreed to give up a massive amount of their territory. She had hidden a seemingly innocuous request by requesting something even crazier. Your left head looked down at Loona, grinning widely.
Carmilla, lead negotiator that she had become, walked around the table, angelic metal shoes producing clinks as she made her way over to the both of you. She extended her hand to Loona, but she apathetically waved her off to you. "They'll handle it," she said nonchalantly. If Loona had tried to make the deal, the fact that she wasn't a sinner would be revealed. No fucking way she was going anywhere near Carmilla's hand.
Carmilla, who was disappointed that she could not deal with Loona herself, offered you her hand instead, as suggested. Your right head looked at her, while your center looked at the rest of the overlords, and your left looked at Loona's. It was clear from the information coming from your senses that nobody was truly happy about how the deal was going. But hey, that's how compromises work. Everybody has to give up something.
You shook Carmilla's hand, aware that you wouldn't be making it without the Hellhound beside you. Loona was the one responsible for getting you here. Maybe she deserved the name "Kerberos" more than you did. That's what Carmilla seemed to think at least, gauging from her disappointment at not being able to shake her hand.
With the deal struck, all tension in the room seemed to dissipate, at least a little. The business had concluded. Overlords got up out of their seats, conversing casually with the allies they made. Perhaps it would be good to—
Loona was already out of her seat, and had you by the claw, dragging you along to try and meet The Overlord Rosie. She was somehow already ahead of you, eager to try and make allies in this room full of powerful people.
Your three heads laughed in unison. While this hadn't been the ending you had hoped for, you had somehow made it through this ordeal. Smarter, stronger, and with the realization that you had one of the strongest allies you could ever ask for already at your side.
Author's Note:
Unholy fucking shit, it's finally over! I can get back to writing ROMANCE (I will be fixing Stolas's chapters first, but that's still writing romance). I thought writing intro chapters for the sinner becoming an Overlord would be easy! That's what I get for underestimating my pride when it comes to telling a plot like this...
This chapter is more likely to contain errors, due to the length. Please let me know about any grammatical or pronoun errors!
If you have tags I think I should add to the story on these sites, please comment them! Share, comment, and like/fav/vote wherever you read it to feed my Pride!
You've made it this far, so you might as well!
