your main goal here was to revamp your style. take a different approach to each fight, not let any opponent knew who you fight by changing it up every round. from your last fight, those watching know how good you are in a snowy area. meaning if there is a snowy area in the next arena they'll do everything they can to forbid you entry to fight on their own terms.

but here's the thing, what if you never fought on their terms? what if, unwilling, they were fighting on your terms every time? that was your thought process. the reasoning behind changes within your combat strategy for each round. never let the opponent know what they're up against. simple as that.

Ruby had zero idea who to root for. like, zero. none at all. her brain was empty as all hell. although she wasn't the only one.

"who should we root for?" Jaune asked Pyrrha through a quiet whisper. the girl just shrugging in response.

truthfully, only one person who how they were going to support and the reason was quite obvious as all hell. Weiss sat with her hands on her knees, staring down at the 4 who stood, ready for the battle to begin.

'so that's the lineup for his team.' she thought to herself.

'do i root for my team or my husband!?!!??!' Ruby mentally panicked, glancing between the two.

that's right. it was (Y/n) versus Yang. it was Blake versus Claire. (Y/n)'s team and Ruby's team were the two teams up for the next round of the Vytal festival, throwing a major wrench into Ruby's brain which caused it to short circuit. does she root for her team as she's the team leader, or does she root for er most precious loved one? her literal husband?!

"uh...um...hmm...." she mumbled, very clearly at a major crosswords which she's having  alot of trouble deciding where to go.

"hey..Ruby."

Ruby looked over to Jaune, seeing his also confused gaze.

"who do we root for?"

"I DONT KNOW!" she replied, throwing her hands over her face in a overly dramatic fashion before crying crocodile tears. "why did my husband have to go against my ttttteeeaaammmm!"

the commotion had caught some attention, with those close by looking at the girl as if she was crazy, each of them raising a singular eyebrow in response to the girls emotional, or lack of, distress.

"why has the tournament forsaken mmmmeeeee?" she spoke through gritted teeth and a balled fist, eyes closed and head down. "who do i ccchhhhoooossseee."

"Ruby, obviously you should root for our team." Weiss spoke, sitting up straight and looking down at the arean.

in response, Ruby grabbed her shoulders and shook her back and forth.

"but he's my husband Weiss! my hus-band! my lover! i can't not root for him right!?"

"Ruby-"

"i have to root for him! i have too! but my team- we worked so hard! but (Y/n) is- argh...what do i do!?!"

she looked down, staring straight at (Y/n) who fiddled with the pistol in his hand, making sure it was properly ready for the fight about to happen. slowly, as if sensing hr gaze, (Y/n) turned to where Ruby was exactly. he raised a lone hand and gave her a kind wave alongside a soft smile that made her brain melt.

she instantly sat back down on her seat, hands on her knees and completely calm, seemingly no longer in a panic and staring straight ahead almost blankly.

"im rooting for my husband." she spoke calmly. so calmly it even unnerved Weiss who was seated besides her.

"oh...okay..." Weiss responded, making sure to not look at Ruby for even a second due to the sudden change of attitude that she has undertaken.
