....
you blinked again. you were shocked. what did he just say? did he just say he wants you to join the Atlas military? like THE Atlas military? was he serious?
Glynda looked over to Ironwood, giving him a glare of hidden contempt and degust. Ozpin almost sent a look his way, one of confusion and surprise.
"i am fully against this." Glynda spoke up. "he's in his first year in the academy."
"i can recognize talent, Glynda. this boy is full of it. if he's anything like his mother and father then-"
"he is a child. i will not allow you to recruit a child into the military." that was the reason Glynda had provided, although the actual reason wasn't that at all. "plus you are aware you'll incur his mother's wraith, yes?"
"i am aware of that."
Glynda silently clicked her tongue. the real reason Glynda outright refused? because she herself didn't want him to join. it wasn't about ethics, or morals, it was just her own personal feelings. plus, she knew you wanted to be with your wife, Ruby, and she knew that if you said yes you wouldn't be able to be with her anymore.
you would be torn away from Ruby and that was something she couldn't allow. for your sake.
"Ironwood. surely you didn't ask to see Mr. Rose for just this reason, right?" Ozpin asked, staring at the man.
"that was the main reason, but there was something else i had to talk about." Ironwood clarified. "but before that, i would like to know (Y/n)'s answer."
everyone turned towards you, watching as you just stood there in silence. Glynda moved over, notepad and pen in hand, that you gladly accepted and begun scribbling down into it. she then moved back to take her post on the left side of Ozpin's desk.
eventually, once you had finished writing, you presented it to Ironwood.
"respectfully, i will decline. i'd much rather stay with my wife." it wrote, with you giving a respectful bow in process.
he tilted his head to the side a smidge, seemingly a little disappointed at the outcome but accepting it none the less.
"that is understandable. a tad disappointing, yet understandable none the less." he replied, placing his hands on the desk behind him. "regarding the other thing i wanted to ask..."
he looked up at you.
"i've heard from your parents you can't speak. unfortunately Atlas technology hasn't found a way to fix that just yet, so please don't get your hopes up. but i must ask, has your semblance not thwarted that issue?" he asked, raising a singular eyebrow. "i'm aware your semblance allows you to alter your body and create new additions, so would it not fix that problem of yours?"
"i can answer that question, actually." Ozpin spoke, gathering everyone's attention to him. "semblances have a limit. that we know for certain. i can guarantee that his semblance won't allow him to create one because he was born without one."
noticing your confusion, Ozpin decided to clarify.
"essentially, his semblance uses what the body already knows. his body knows how an arm functions and how it's constructed, therefore he can create one. his body has no idea how a voice box works or is constructed, so he's unable to make one."
"hm.. so no matter what he does, he won't be able to create a voice box?"
"essentially, yes."
you just continued to stand there, finding the overall reasoning as to why your semblance wont create a voice box solid. although if you were honest, you wished it wasn't the case.
