"Blitzø!" M&M protested.
"We're leaving, Loona." Loona grumbled, but got up to let him out of the booth. Blitzø shimmied across the seat, then started to walk out of the restaurant. Loona stood at the table, torn between rebelling by sitting back down next to you, or following her dad outside.
"Please," you mouthed to her, motioning with your eyes and head after Blitzø. You didn't want to make things worse between you and him. Loona looked angry at you. She growled "Pushover!" at you. She then turned and followed her dad outside. You felt an ache in your heart.
"Okay, seriously, what happened out there!?" Moxxie exclaimed, hands outstretched to you in confusion.
"Hon, it's rude to pry!" Millie said to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. Moxxie looked unsatisfied. "What did you do?" He said, intent on finding out the truth. Millie grumbled, but she looked at you, also curious as to what was really going on. Their soft, concerned yellow eyes told you that you could trust them.
"I—" You thought of revealing your secret, and the fact that Loona might've made a move on you, but you thought better of it when you remembered why she had brought you outside in the first place. "—I don't think I should say. I think I'll be able to tell you eventually, but not right now. Everything's okay, I promise." You smiled reassuringly, but worry tugged at the edges of your eyes.
Moxxie looked like he wanted to say something else, but Millie shushed him.
"You two should go. Blitzø is your ride, right?" you said. You noticed that they always came to work in the company van with Blitzø and Loona, and had assumed that was how they got here as well.
"Oh crumbs!" Moxxie panicked and practically ran out of the building. Millie got up after him, but turned back to you. She grabbed your hand, looked up into your eyes, and said:
"You know you can trust us, right?"
You smiled, but you were still worried. "Of course. I promise I'll tell you. I just need...time. And I need to talk to them. Alone."
Millie nodded, understanding. Then she peered closer at you. "Have your eyes...always been—"
"Millie! He's leaving without us!" Moxxie poked his head back inside the restaurant to shout.
Millie's attitude changed suddenly. "Oh, when I catch him...!" She turned and ran after Moxxie, leaving you alone to pay the bill.
Trying to ignore how light your spending would have to be for the next two weeks: you paid and left the restaurant.
You came back to your apartment. It was pretty small, but you didn't really need the space anyways. Everything was neat. And by neat it was empty, save for your closet and bed. Yup. This is Hell. You fucking furry.
You collapsed onto your affordable bed, and pulled out your phone. You saw that the last text you had received was from Loona, telling you the address of the restaurant. Your eyes scanned the screen, and you saw Blitzø in your contacts. He would often be the one to text when the duo of him and Loona came through the portal. How had Loona gotten your number?
You navigated to Loona's message, and made a new contact on your phone for her. You saw the option to add a photo. Take a picture; it'll last longer, she had said. Maybe you should've taken her up on the offer, even if it wasn't legit. Your heart fluttered as you remembered when she hadn't left your desk. It fluttered when you remembered how you told her how you died, and she had come close to you. Then it ached when you remembered Blitzø storming out of the restaurant, and you had told her to follow him because you didn't want trouble with Blitzø. "Pushover!" she had said.
