L's POV
"She still hasn't texted you back, Mate?" Oscar asks as we head to the airport for our flight to Canada.
"No, I haven't spoken to her the whole week. I left over 15 messages."
"Maybe you should call her again?"
"If she wanted to talk to me, she would have. I think giving her space now is the best thing to do," I reply.
Oscar looks at me. He can tell that I'm upset about the whole situation.
"You need to keep your head in the game for the race next weekend. I know it's hard, but don't let her distract you from winning." Oscar has a point. I can't let this affect my racing. I need to get a podium this coming weekend.
Raceday comes and goes, and I finish P2. I'm thrilled. I let all my anger and frustration out on the track, and it paid off. Oscar and I celebrate with a chilled and relaxed evening at the hotel where we're staying.
I can't help but wonder what Skye is doing right now, or if she's even thinking about me. I shrug off the thought and keep chatting to Oscar about the race and how we can improve in the coming months.

6 Months Later
The whole team is preparing for the race in Las Vegas on the 23rd. It's been a tough six months, but Oscar and I have been on a roll, racking up podium finishes.
It's Wednesday afternoon. Oscar and I are downstairs in the restaurant, having an early dinner before we head back to our rooms. The race is just a week away, and we still have a lot to prepare for.
Ding!
Number: Hey Lando. I don't know if you remember me. It's Cadey... Skye's BFF.
I gasp.
Listen, Skye has been miserable, but she's too proud to admit anything and I can't take the moping anymore, so I'm helping in my own way. Let me know if you're able to make a trip to NYC this weekend. I'm rooting for you two. PS: I stole your number off her phone. Don't tell her, or you're toast. :D
I look over at Oscar. "What?" he asks.
"Pack your overnight bag, we're making a trip to NYC."
Friday night, we landed in NYC. Cadey sent us the hotel name where everything will go down, and she booked us in there for the weekend. I had to tell Zak why we were leaving abruptly, but I think he was already suspicious of what was happening. He let us go for two days and covered for us.
Cadey met us in the hotel lobby.
"Hey, guys, long time no see," she says, giving us each a hug. "So, Lando, you're booked in room 1404, and Oscar, you're booked in room 1406. I placed the booking under my name because Skye will be here tomorrow. I've asked the concierge to give her a keycard to your room, Lando. She'll be here at 9am. She thinks I booked us in here for a girl's spa weekend."
She smiles. "I'm just the bestest best friend ever," she giggles to herself.
"Okay, guys, have a good evening and rest up. I'll see you in the morning," Cadey says, waving as she leaves the lobby.
We head up to our rooms and call it a night.
--
I wake up early, not sure if I'm excited, nervous, or both. I haven't seen her in six months. I tried not to think about her so I wouldn't get distracted during races, but at night when I lay in bed, that's when the thoughts came rushing back.
"Time to shower and get ready," I say, rushing off to the bathroom.
Sitting on the bed and waiting for time to pass feels like an eternity. Suddenly, I hear the door unlock. The door opens.
I stand up. She looks up, and our eyes meet. She drops her bag out of pure shock.
"Skye."
