L's POV

We're on our way back to my apartment, both of us drenched after I dove into the water to save her. We're laughing at what happened. She's adorable when she gets annoyed with herself when life happens. I really admire that about her.
"What is this girl doing to me?", I think to myself. I haven't felt this way since Monica and I split up over a year ago.

We get back to my apartment, and the evening goes on. We're all freshened up, standing in the kitchen. I'm looking deep into her eyes, not able to think straight.
I really don't want to do anything that could jeopardize what we could have. Then, a thought crosses my mind. "She's leaving a week from now and going back to the States. What will happen then?"

She grabs my shirt and I kiss her passionately, a desire burning to make her mine. We move to the bedroom, and as we continue, she suddenly stops me and starts crying.
"I can't do this, I'm sorry," she says, sobbing. I feel terrible, like I've done something wrong. I comfort her and reassure her that everything is okay, and we won't do anything she's not comfortable with. She ends up falling asleep on my chest.

As we lay, she's fast asleep. I glance over at the alarm clock—it's 5 am. I look at her head softly resting on my chest. She's perfect, even when she sleeps. I stroke her hair and smile. I really don't want this feeling to end.

Eventually, I drift off to sleep.

I woke up the next morning. As I open my eyes, I quickly realize she's not there.
"She's probably freshening up," I say softly as I stretch out my arms.

I check my phone—it's 7:30 am.

I get up and walk around the house, checking the bathroom and the spare bedroom. She's nowhere to be found.

"Did she leave?"

I walk over to the kitchen to grab some coffee and notice the dryer is open. I grab my phone, and as I do, the note falls off the counter and onto the floor. My heart sinks in that moment.

Lando,

I'm sorry to do this, but I have to leave. Last night was something I'll never forget, but I'm not ready for this. It breaks my heart to walk away, but I don't know how to face you when you wake up.

Take care of yourself and good luck with your races.
Skye

I drop down onto the couch, unsure of what to do. I give Oscar a call.

"Hey, mate. What happened to you last night?"
"Hey, Osc. I took Skye out on the yacht, and yeah... Can you come over?"
"You okay, mate?"
I pause for a moment, trying to find the words to say.
"Don't worry, mate. Me and the guys will be over in ten." Oscar says, hanging up the phone.

Some time later, I hear a knock on the door. Oscar, Carlos, and Charles show up. We all sit down in the living room, and I tell them what happened, from the yacht to last night.

"She just left?" Carlos asks, placing his hands on my shoulder.

I look up at him, a tear welling in my eye. "Yeah, she did."
