S's POV

Cadey waits at the back, and I make my way to the front. It's a little strange, but I end up at the front of the meeting area just as the announcer calls for the teams to come in.

"Wow, McLaren and Ferrari. It really is my lucky day," I think to myself, grinning. I'm such a huge fan of Lando and Carlos, or Carlando, as we call them.

The crowd is going wild, yelling, and holding up pens and papers, hoping for autographs and attention. I've never believed acting like a goofball will make someone notice you, so I figure my lumo yellow hoodie is bright enough to catch their eye. I patiently wait at the end of the area.

Suddenly, I spot Lando making his way toward me. My heart skips a beat. He pulls out his phone and casually shows it to me.

"You made this?" he asks, and I freeze for a second.

On Lando's phone wallpaper is my drawing—the one I sent in an email that I never thought he'd actually see. Oh my goodness.

"You're Skyye?" he asks, and I nearly lose it.

"Y-yes, I am," I stutter, my face turning red as I try not to make too much eye contact.

"What can I autograph for you?" he asks, smiling.

"My hoodie, please," I manage to say.

Lando takes my hand and writes his signature on the sleeve of my hoodie, and I can't believe what's happening.

"Would you mind if we take a selfie?" I ask.

I grab my phone and point it at us, and as I'm about to snap the picture, he leans closer and whispers, "Only if you send it to me later."

He lets go of my hand, looks me in the eye, winks, and walks back toward the stage area. Before he leaves, he slips something into my hand.

A piece of paper saying "Text me later." with a number.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to faint. Lando just gave me his phone number. I close the note before anyone sees.

The drivers leave the area, and I'm still so shell-shocked from my interaction with Lando that I didn't even get Carlos's signature. I walk back to Cadey in a daze, barely able to process this. "What on earth just happened?" I mutter, still in disbelief.

"Girl, you look like you saw a ghost," Cadey says, eyeing me up and down.

I think it's time to tell my best friend everything. As we make our way to our seats, I spill the beans. Everything—from the night at the bar to what just happened now.

"OMW, Skye! All that and He gave you his cell number. What are you going to do?" she asks, wide-eyed.

"Good question, Cadey", I think to myself. "What am I going to do?" We sit down, and the race is about to start.

"Good luck, Lando."

The green lights flash, and the roar of the F1 cars fills the air. The smell of the tires is somehow soothing, and I feel this peaceful rush inside. Lando finishes P4, but Oscar gets P2. I'm beyond happy that my favorite team made it to the podium today. It definitely makes the trip here all the more worthwhile.

"Come on, Skyye. They just opened the gates to go to the podium to see the winners. Mama wants to get sprayed with some champagne!" Cadey teases. It's so cute how she tries to embrace my hobbies and interests.

We make our way toward the front, getting a good view of the podium. Carlos, Charles, and Oscar are celebrating as they're announced. They pop the bubbly, spraying champagne everywhere. I guess champagne showers are a real thing.

After the celebrations, I spot the McLaren garage out of the corner of my eye. Lando's talking to one of his engineers, and he looks incredibly handsome in his race suit. There's a race fence between us, and I can't help but wish I were on the other side, hanging out with all of them. He's really living the dream.

"What are you staring at him for? Why don't you text him?" Cadey whispers in my ear, catching me lost in the moment.

"No, I can't do that," I respond, shaking my head. "What am I supposed to say? He is Lando, and I am... well, nobody. And come to think of it, why would he give out his number? It's probably some kind of joke to see if they can get a fan girl to fall for it."

"Well, you don't know if you don't try," Cadey says with a grin as we head toward the exit to catch a taxi back to the hotel.
