L's POV

Oscar and I are on our way to a briefing about the upcoming race in Monaco.

"Are we going out tonight to celebrate your P2 in Emilia-Romagna?" Oscar nudges me, fluttering his eyelids at me like he's asking for a favor. "We haven't had a chance to since we got here, you've been too busy."

I know I can't say no to Oscar. "Sure, we can go out for a few drinks, but not late, okay?"

"Just one or two drinks." He knows it'll never stay at just one or two, but I've made peace with that. I open my iPad to check some emails and get some paperwork done before the briefing.

Oscar leans over. "Geez, Lando, don't you ever open your emails? You must have thousands just sitting in your inbox."

"Honestly, bruv, I can't get through them all. Most are just eager fans saying how much they want to meet me and hate mail. Same things most of the time, so I don't bother much anymore."

One subject catches my attention before I close my iPad.

"Just Another Message Lost in Your Inbox." I tilt my head to the side. "Interesting," I think to myself.

I open the email.

Hi Lando,

The chances of you actually seeing this message are probably slim to none. You have millions of fans around the world, and I'm sure you get hundreds of messages that your PR team checks for you. *I chuckle. More like thousands*

Your love for F1 and your commitment to your team have inspired me. Just a simple gesture to brighten your day and thank you for being you. Good luck with all your future races. The championship is on your horizon.

I do really hope one day I will have the privilege of meeting you to say thank you.

Kind regards,

Skye

PS: I've attached one of my art pieces for you. Hope you like it.

"Hmmm, I wonder what she would thank me for?"

I open the attachment to find a stunning digital art piece of me and my car with my lumo yellow helmet.

"Wow."

Oscar takes out his earphones, looks at me. "What?"

I show him the picture of the art. "Wow. Is that from a fan?" Oscar asks.

"Yeah, a different message than what I usually get. She said I inspired her and this is just a gesture to brighten my day."

"No weird comments? No asking for freebies or tickets or anything?" Oscar asks.

"No, not at all. Just a plain email and a picture." I smile.

Oscar shrugs, smiles, and puts his earphones back in. I save the picture to my iPad, transfer it to my phone, and set it as my background.
