"Are you painting right now?" I hanged the towel before settling myself at my study table to start studying.
"Hmm..." I looked at him when he hummed.
He immersed himself in his painting that he neither spare me a glance nor speak to answer.
"Did you call me just to watch you painting?" I asked with my eyebrows arose.
I think my question got his attention because he stopped on his track and turned to me.
"I called to make sure that you went home safe."
I stared at him for a second before speaking.
"You could've texted me. Or you don't really need to check if I went home safe." I said nonchalantly and opened my iPad.
My notes and reviewer are here so I need to study with it.
"Do you want to drop the call?"
My head snapped and turned to him.
Anong klaseng tanong 'yan? Sinabi ko lang naman na hindi niya kailangang siguraduhin kung nakauwi ba ako nang ligtas.
"I was just saying." I scoffed and fixed the phone on the stand to comfortably read my notes without holding my phone.
"What are you doing?" he asked after a few moments of silence.
"Reading...studying..." I said without sparing him a glance.
I don't know what happened or what he was doing because I was occupied with my readings. It was all silence the whole time.
It was so silent again like what I went home to earlier but why is it so different? Tahimik nga ngunit wala akong maramdamang bigat. Tahimik ngunit wala akong maramdaman na lungkot. All I could feel was contentment as I looked at him through the screen of my phone.
Siguro nga ay may mga katahimikang mabigat na ayaw natin, at meron ding katahimikan na magaan at gustong-gusto natin.
At ito 'yun.
Despite the silence, I don't feel anything but that euphoric feeling I never felt in between silence.
"Do you know how to paint?" I swallowed hard and cleared my throat when he spoke and turned to me.
"Nope. I was never patient in painting." I blinked slowly as I stared at his hazel eyes, which are now very obvious because of the light reflecting on them.
"I guess you were never patient." his statement was followed by low chuckles.
It made a subtle smile kiss my lips.
We talked from time to time while we were doing our own things at the same time.
I was only disturbed when I suddenly felt thirsty, so I stood up with my phone.
"I'll drink water." I said when he turned to me. He probably noticed my sudden moves.
I went downstairs with him, while he, on the other hand, gave his attention to the phone.
Tumawa ako at itinapat ang cellphone sa salas habang pababa upang makita niya.
"Why is it dim? You live alone?" I shook my head.
"Nope. I live with my parents. Our house usually looks like this—dark and empty."
He didn't answer so I continued walking to the kitchen.
I opened the fridge and took a pitcher of water before taking a glass. I poured water into it before taking a gulp.
"You can turn the lights on." I shook my head again.
