or, at least, that's the cover story Ruby was told. in fact it was the complete opposite. Tai gets paid handsomely, so he's more than happy to buy the Piano, but he didn't do it for one reason. you asked him not to. but why not? well, because you knew full well that if she wasn't able to then she would instead smother you with love as a repayment.
and for you? that's worth 100 piano's. it's also because you were going to propose to her on your birthday so you didn't want there to be some kind of material factor behind it. that's probably the main reason you didn't want her to buy you the piano if you were honest.
well to be fair that didn't stop her the next year. turns out since that day she decided to save up all of her allowance given to her by her dad and brought you the piano for your birthday the next year. you remember being more than shocked that day, like, almost passing out type of shocked.
your first thought was 'how in Oum's name did she have enough money for that!?' your second thoughts was 'why did she do that!?' your third was 'she brought it for me i'm going to kiss her right now.'
you absolutely love your wife. to hell and back. walk through fire and brimstone for her, and she'd do the same for you. it was a perfect relationship.
you've both had petty squabbles before, yet that in itself is actually quite healthy in a relationship. and after you both finish those squabbles you both apologize then snuggle up together and watch a film under a blanket, being nice, cosy and relaxed whilst in the arms of the other.
now that you think about it, you haven't had any arguments since coming to Beacon. or have you? if you did it's just be a low amount of times that you don't exactly remember.
'i hope Ruby is enjoying her mission.'

"Claire stop harassing the poor man."
"no Alice, this little shit had the nerve to sneer at (Y/n)!
"we both know (Y/n) is more than capable of standing up for himself." Alice quickly reprimanded, holding Claire by the collar of her shirt.
"yeah but...when does he ever?" Onyx was the one to speak up, coming up with surprisingly good point.
the three looked at you, watching as you moved over to the grounded woman and offer your hand to them.
"....ya'know? i hate the fact your right." both woman said at the same time, with Claire seemingly calming down now.
the 3 was just spectating the ongoing scene, the preparator of Claire's anger taking your hand and slowly standing up the individual sent a fearful glance Claire's way before looking down at you and apologising.
in response, you kindly nodded your head, but you made sure to squeeze their hand sharply, causing them to wince. all the while, a kind smile was on your face. what you just did went unnoticed by your team, so when the person walked past, all 3 of them shot them narrowed glares.
never the less, you seemed completely unbothered by the situation that had just occurred, instead opting to motion for your team to continue walking with you. you lingered in the front, an innocent smile on your face.
it had only been a few hours since you finished both your own and Ruby's homework, so when your team got back you all decided to go out as you'll be leaving this city for your mission tomorrow.
there was absolutely no destination behind this outage, just 4 friends enjoying themselves before the next day would oh so certainly arrive. although that was something unknown to your friends, as the 3 of them believe you wanted to grab something from a shop, yet there were so, so very wrong.
