Nang mag-uwian, sinabi niyang may meeting sila for their club and, as the honorary member, I should be there.

I'm tired of going along with what she wants. Being with them is fun—but it also hurts. Seeing them happily talking about their dreams stabs my heart. And since I don't want to get hurt, I chose to avoid them.

Napabuntong hininga ako.

I really am a coward.

"Wynther!"

I looked at that person, and unsurprisingly, it was my deskmate. I internally rolled my eyes. You know how stubborn this girl is.

Walang sabi-sabing hinila niya ako papunta sa band members niya, who were standing behind the crowd.

Kumunot ang noo ko. Anong meron?

I just gave them a nod in response. Thankfully, they didn't mention anything about me leaving earlier. Then, I turned my attention to the front and saw a band.

A guy stepped up to the microphone. By the looks of it, he's the vocalist. He held the microphone and spoke.

"Did you like our performance?" he asked.

The audience responded with an enthusiastic "Yes!"—including the people I was with. They all cheered, making the vocalist chuckle.

"Alright, alright. Haha." He laughed, motioning for everyone to settle down.

"We're a band that has already signed up with an agency, and are currently taking lessons in preparation for our debut as professionals." Paliwanag niya nang tumahimik ang audience. "And that brings us here. We'd like to help aspiring bands who want to go pro. We'll be giving you some tips on how to improve. So, is there anyone who wants to perform?"

He scanned the crowd, looking for interested participants. His gaze stopped—not on me, but on the girl beside me.

I followed his line of sight and saw my deskmate with her hand raised high, eyes sparkling with excitement. I shifted my gaze to the rest of the band members, who were staring at her, wide-eyed.

"We will!" she declared loudly.

Napailing ako. They should've seen this coming. They know how crazy she is.

She wants to perform in front of so many people kahit na never pa silang nakapagpractice kahit isang beses. For goodness' sake, they're still in the process of looking for a bassist, yet she already wants to do this.

"Oh, we have a volunteer here! Why don't you come here?" sabi ng vocalist at iminwestra sa deskmate ko na lumapit.

Lumingon siya sa mga kasama at tinanguan niya ang mga ito. Sabay-sabay silang napabuntong hininga at sumunod sa deskmate ko papunta sa pwesto ng banda sa harap.

Saglit na nag-usap ang deskmate ko at ang vocalist bago ito umalis sa harapan. Naglakad ito papunta sa gilid at tinabihan ang mga kabanda nito.

My deskmate and her bandmates took their respective positions—Elliot on drums, Zeira on guitar, Rive on keyboard, and my deskmate at the microphone as the vocalist.

She glanced at her bandmates, giving them a firm nod, which they returned. Then, she turned to the audience. Our eyes met.

She smiled.
