Chapter Twenty-Two

Start from the beginning

There was loud chatter near the door, bringing Katsuki out of his thoughts. He moved his attention, it was the hero Fat Gum conversing with the bright faced Eijiro. It was another odd thing, Katsuki can't remember the first or last time he had ever seen Eijiro smile, let alone laugh. The two hugged, Fat Gum patting Eijiro's back. They released each other, Eijiro seemed to ask a question, his eyebrows pointed slightly down and his head tilted. Fat Gum turned his head towards him, and that was Katsuki's cue to remove his gaze and return to the small group in front of him.

Katsuki widened his eyes in surprise, the girl that Denki introduced as Hagakure was staring directly at him. He thinned his lips and averted his eyes, landing on a pair of shoes walking his way.

"Hi, Kacchan," a boy with wild, green, curly hair greeted. He held the straps of his bags and looked down at him in a way that Katsuki didn't understand, but it didn't make him feel well. The group looked around nervously, Denki looking at Katsuki only.

Katsuki took in the boy and nodded, "Hello."

The boy's eyes widened, he turned to a girl that had appeared near him. Her hair was short slightly past her chin with bangs that covered her forehead just above her eyebrows. She had a neutral look on her face, accompanying the green haired boy as he sat down on the desk behind Katsuki.

"You're back," she said.

Katsuki nodded.

"Are you okay, Kacchan?"

Katsuki furrowed his brows, he wasn't able to turn his neck, his back still in pain, "Sure."

"Still an asshole," the girl grumbled.

"Uraraka!" The boy silently exclaimed.

Denki gave a worried look, but Katsuki shook his head and returned a smile. Denki was about to speak, but a voice announced itself to the class.

"Alright, class. In your seats. I know Bakugo's back, but sit down, I'll talk about it in a bit." Mr. Aizawa patiently waited for the students to assign themselves back into their seats while he looked through the papers he held. "Ready?" When there was no response, he placed the sheet of paper on the table. "Now, as you guys can see 'cause you're not blind, Bakugo is back." Everyone's heads turned to Katsuki, who kept his eyes forward on Mr. Aizawa. "Now, a few things. One, we got two heroes here, Fat Gum and Mt. Lady, they are not here for teaching, they are to keep Bakugo safe, so don't distract them. A few more things, but the most important one of them all, is that Bakugo is not quite the same, he has retrograde amnesia, or memory loss." Gasps flooded the room, but Mr. Aizawa did not have time for interruptions. He held up his hands, "No questions. We are way behind, but yes, Bakugo doesn't not have all of his memories intact. Doesn't mean you should all become little bitches and ignore him, help him around, he's still very injured, be a good friend and classmate. He's still Bakugo, treat him with respect and care just as you've done with Todoroki." Mr. Aizawa glanced up at the back corner, noticing an absence.

Just then, the classroom door slid open, Fat Gum and Mt. Lady became tense. Through the door walked a very large man, continuously flaming around his face and arms. He nodded at Mr. Aizawa and briefly greeted the two heroes and moved himself out of the entrance, "Shoto."

A boy peered out from behind him, Katsuki could tell he was tall, but in comparison to the burning man, he was nothing but a child. He had uniquely colored hair, red and white perfectly split down the middle and heterochromic eyes that also matched the dual pattern. Around his left eye was a large burn scar, leathery and patchy against the rest of his smooth and milky skin. He hunched his neck down, shaking with every step as he gradually walked towards Katsuki. He paused at his row and turned, making his way down the row, passing Katsuki. He glared at Katsuki until he couldn't hold eye contact any longer and resumed until he reached the last desk of the row.
