Episode 13: Traitors and Cheats

Bodil: Ok.

Fishlegs: So slow down. You beat Viggo Grimborn in a game of Maces and Talons?

Bodil: Yes.

Snotlout: But to do that you would have to be some sort of genius.

Ruffnut: So you're extremely smart?

Tuffnut: And you let us believe that Hiccup was the smartest dragon rider here?

Bodil: Hiccup is the smartest dragon rider.

Ruffnut: Um Hiccup hasn't beaten Viggo at Maces and Talons. Nobody has.

Bodil: Nobody is a stretch.

Torsten: But how did you know that the plan was going to work?

Bodil: Your terror mail made no sense. Why would you want to meet on a separate island? Maybe if it was your own. And then your i's and t's they had similarities but these just looked much more regal. And that led me to believe you'd been kidnapped.

Tuffnut: So you flew in dragons blazing!

Bodil: No Tuff it wasn't hard to imagine who'd pull a stunt like this.

Astrid: Viggo.

Bodil: Exactly so I took extra precautions. I swapped out my necklace and put it in my bag. Knowing Hiccup would check it because he's a snoop. (She nudges him slightly with her shoulder.)

Hiccup: Hey.

Bodil: And the third step was finding the loopholes. Viggo is very careful with his words. He wouldn't want to give me more than he had to. The goal was to get me which was why he never said he'd let me go if I won. He only ever mentioned Torsten. The only rule was Torsten couldn't ask Hiccup for help, he never said I couldn't, but all of the Riders would be too easily spotted. So I made sure to give Torsten a hint on which two I would need for the mission. Astrid and Hiccup. Stormfly to track and Toothless for stealth. The last thing to do was win the game.

Fishlegs: So that you'd secure Torsten's life.

Bodil: Exactly.

Astrid: It's a brilliant plan, but how did you know it would work?

Bodil: I didn't in fact Viggo was the one who helped it all happen.

Snotlout: I know how obviously but just in case the others don't... how?

Bodil: The false betrothal. Hiccup would never believe I just changed my mind about marrying Torsten. And at the same time... if I did I would have told him to his face. Gobber never raised me to hide from my problems.

Fishlegs: Why would Hiccup have any reason to not believe that you would change your mind?

Bodil: Um... intuition?

Tuff: So you single-handedly outsmarted Viggo Grimborn in a battle of wits? Sorry, why do we listen to Hiccup again?

Hiccup: Ok ok... show and tell is over.

Astrid: I'm glad you're back and safe.

Bodil: Thanks.

[cut to Torsten saying goodbye to Bodil]

Bodil: Please actually take care of yourself this time.

Torsten: You risked your life for me. Even after I betrayed you.

Bodil: You can't help the family you're born into. And in the end, you made the right choice. Plus Hiccup still lets Dagur run around and he's done much much worse. This means though no one can know about this. Take it to the grave.

Torsten: Thank you so much.

Ryker: What's the matter little brother? Did something happen?

Viggo: It's nothing project Shellfire is still active.

Ryker: Don't tell me you lost to a little girl?

Viggo: I underestimated the girl. That's on me, but now I know her weakness. Her need to protect the people she cares about even risking her own health. It will be her downfall.

Hiccup: You still manage to surprise me. When I think I know everything there is to know about you... you prove me wrong.

Bodil: I learned from the best. It wouldn't have worked if you hadn't gone through my satchel and found my necklace. I knew you were the only one who could tell the difference between the real one and the fake one.

Hiccup: Of course, the real one has a T carved on the back and the fake one has nothing.

Bodil: T for Thyra, my mother. She gave it to Stoick to give to me right before she died. I've had it ever since.

Hiccup: She would have been proud of you.

Bodil: I hope so.

Hiccup: I know I sure am.

Bodil: Hey, we have some free time...

Hiccup: Well would you look at that, we do. Yours or mine?

Bodil: Mine... Nobody ever burst into my hut.

Hiccup: Alright after you, captain. (End shows them walking back to Bodil's hut as Torsten sets sail off in the distance.)
