It's clearly unfortunate that they are both human beings, and need to breathe, and that means they have to pull away from the kiss for oxygen, if not anything else. But they don't want to. Oh no they don't. First, because both are extremely giddy with the feeling of kissing their best friend, soul twin, twin flame, the love of their lives, and their idols (yes, they're each other's biggest fanboys if you haven't noticed). And second, because the moment they stop kissing, they need to start talking and while they're pulling away, both boys have realised that they just gave in to the moment without any exchange of words between them. Their action was based on pure assumption (though correct, but they don't know that yet), and now they're dreading it. For the first time, it seems to both that talking to each other might just be a task. What a range of emotions the two have experienced within a span of ten minutes.

But between the two, Taehyung is more impatient right now because he has waited for this moment for years... and when he says years, he means fucking really long years. He knew Jeongguk was his one the moment he laid his eyes on him - what kind of one, he didn't know. He was too young to understand the intricacies and nuances of relationships. What he did know was that he wanted this boy in his life, for life. And the feeling grew inside of him with each passing day. Hidden carefully behind the ever-hyper pixie, was always an old soul - a soul that swore by classical music, vintage fashion, and a timeless romance. He didn't let it show - it was something he guarded with all his might for the day he would be able to dictate the way he is portrayed to the world ( if that day ever came). But that old soul had grown to love Jeongguk selflessly and unconditionally. By the time he realised what the intense feeling was, he was already a goner.

When everyone told him that Jeongguk was a shy kid, diametrically opposite to him, it was like a challenge. There was something in the youngest's eyes that told Taehyung that Jeongguk may be shy, but he was hiding a different persona behind that shyness. And that made him more like Taehyung than not. So he started chipping away at Jeongguk's walls with determination, celebrating each small success in his own weird ways. Sixteen-year-old Taehyung started maintaining a log of all their firsts in his head - the first time Jeongguk let him cuddle with him, the first time Jeongguk kissed his cheek, the first time Jeongguk shared his food, the first night Jeongguk came to him asking for a cuddle, the first time he smelt jealousy, the first time Jeongguk came so close to him that he forgot how to breathe, the first time Jeongguk shamelessly checked him out ( and did not realise what he was doing ) ... and the list goes on.

Tonight will definitely be a highlight on that list.

Growing up with Jeongguk, Taehyung slowly came to realise they were literally each others' twins save one fact - he was an extrovert, and the younger boy was an introvert. From their shared playlists, and passion for photography to their shared wardrobe, love for food, and shared love for video games, which is now public knowledge, to the things they love talking about, believe in, and spend their free time on (that people don't know about) they are the same people in two different bodies (King Namjoon's words, not theirs). Being away from Jeongguk for long stretches of time during Hwarang did it for him. When he was done with filming and promotions, he was hopelessly in love, and did not know how to deal with the intensity of his emotions. It never helped that Jeongguk always behaved exactly in the way he would want his partner to behave, without recongnising the agony he put Tae through.

So yes, Kim Taehyung is done waiting, especially after that kiss. The kiss that took his breath away. He knows the golden maknae aces everything he does, and the kiss was nothing less than magical. He also knows that he is not Jeongguk's first kiss - he has been privy to the stories about the boy's every single one-night stand (and his whining that none of them seemed to intrigue him enough, giving Tae some hope). He dies a little every time, but he is a brilliant actor. And Jimin almost kills Jeongguk every time, but he is also very good at protecting Jeongguk from his feisty little soulmate.
