The next morning I woke to the sound of rain drops pounding against my
window. I stayed starring at my window with its sheer blue curtain. It
was the only color I had left in my room since my mom had re
decorated. It was wall to wall white and even white carpeting. My bed
sheets were big and fluffy like sleeping on a cloud, that was also
white. Through all the commotion I never stopped and realized how
comfortable this bed actually would be if I had a normal life. I laid
there for about five minutes before I heard ruffling outside my door.
i sat up and saw Bain getting up from the floor where he slept.

"Can't sleep?" I asked him.
"Not when your awake." He replied rubbing his eyes and zipping up his
red jacket.
"When your awake I'm awake, When you're asleep..."
"You're asleep. I got it." I interrupted him.

I could hear my brother and two sisters talking downstairs. I got up
from my bed and walked down the stairs.

"Hey look whose awake" Aiden said throwing his backpack over his
shoulder walking towards the double doors of the estate.

"How is it that you are all ready? " I asked still standing there in
my shorts and sweater. "Doesn't anyone sleep around here?'

"How can we sleep when we know any minute we could die!!!" Aiden
screamed and ran outside.

"Don't listen to him!" my mother said as she walked towards me.
"You have a great obstacle coming up. You need to know that this
journey will not be easy. When you enter down there you will see
things you couldn't and wouldn't dare to dream of. You need to put
that fear aside and push through. You must find the stone before
Alistar."

I looked at my mother as she walked away and turned to Bain.

"Ready when you are" He said.

I sat by the window on the plane as I usually do whenever I fly.
Looking over the clouds thinking the last time I was seeing this I had
just finished that awful semester in school. Oh how life was so much
easier back then. I looked over at Bain who sat next to me. He was
gribbing the handles to his chair as if he was about to fall right out
of the airplane. I could see sweat running down his face.

"Are you okay?" I asked him.

"Afraid of heights" He replied in a shaky voice.

"You teleport and fight monsters but your afraid of an airplane?" I
replied smirking at him.

"Ya well somethings you can't help" He replied as we hit some
turbulence and the airplane shook.
"Tell me again why we couldn't teleport there?" Aiden asked mockingly as he hung on the back of Bain's seat.

"Because there is different magic that protects the island. It'll let us out but not in." He replied back eyes squeezed shut.

"We will be alright" I said grabbing a hold of his hand.

He looked down at our hands and squeezed mine a little tighter.

"You know this is the first time we've held hands." He smirked at me.

I looked at him for a minute not knowing what to say. I gave him a
smile back and looked away. I forgot with everything going on that me
and bain still hadn't made it clear on what we were or what we were
supposed to be. I mean I know most protectors fall in love and
stuff, but we are not allowed to. So where does that leave us.

I turned to ask him but before the words could leave my mouth he
pointed and said "Look, we're here."
