"want a hug?" she asked.
you slightly nodded your head.
"come here then. i'll be Ruby's replacement for comfort for now."
she opened her arms, and you entered them, embracing her.
the both of you remained sitting on the floor for a moment as Alice scanned the room.
she noticed a water mark on the floor, and it seemed as if someone had walked through it.
then two and two clicked.
'ow...fuck.' she thought, envisioning exactly what happened.
"come on, lets go get Ruby." she spoke, slowly standing up, and you followed.
-------
Ruby's hands waved through your hair, being mindful to avoid the spot where you slam dunked your head onto the counter.
she was going to play Remnant: The Game, with her teammates, but now she had better things to do.
so she sat at the other table, alone with you.
team JNPR was on the table nearby, same with your team, but the rest of team RWBY took a table to themselves for the game.
she was upset she couldn't play the game, but nothing, and i mean NOTHING would EVER shift her priorities for you.
the moment, the millisecond she would hear you were hurt, she doesn't care what she'd be doing, she would drop everything just to make sure you were okay.
the moment Alice walked through the door with you holding her, she had the impression something happened.
you couldn't even imagine her shock when she was informed you were hurt!
she almost full on panicked!
but now, all was good.
partially.
you were with her. you were safe.
sure, you were still hurt, but she can comfort you.
she always has, always will.
she'll whisper sweet nothings.
she'll give you the love you deserve.
all the head pats, all the kisses and hugs.
everything you deserve, you'll get from her.
noone will hurt you when she's around.
you don't deserve that.
you never do.
you're too sweet. too kind.
too cute.
too amazing.
you were perfect.
you were everything.
yet, why is it you get hurt so often?
she hates it.
always makes her seem and feel so useless.
she can't ever protect you.
she despises it.
it's getting to the point she never wants you out of her reach.
for whenever she turns her gaze away, something always happens.
you get hurt.
she misses something important.
she could deny it all she wants.
but she's always away whenever she's needed.
was she really so useless?
