It’s not the first time Ryan has confessed to Du You.

This time though, it seems slightly different from all the confessions before.

Eating was happy. The macarons were tasty. He was full.

He should be very happy.

Though that rock pushing on his chest seems to have stayed in place all throughout, unmoving.

In other words, he was still feeling lost.

But what Ryan just said was like a ray of sunlight piercing through the clouds, through the darkness, and chasing it away.

Du You finds it hard to describe how he is feeling right now.

He just looks downwards, at the silver-white tail.

“… Thanks.”

Ryan makes a big smile. He lets go of Du You’s hand and takes a step back. His tail follows suit, then hangs down.

Du You raises his head, “I will think some more.”

He has always ever only sought answers from others, hoping that someone will tell him what is the correct thing to do.

Though in hindsight, it seems that this action in and of itself is not correct.

The emotions he is feeling belongs to him, therefore, he should try to deal with them himself, and try to think about why they are himself.

Ryan tilts his head.

Although he instinctively felt that his lover was unhappy, he didn’t know why. What did he mean by thinking?

So Ryan happily proclaims, “I can think with you!”

Du You shakes his head, “go get some sleep now.”

Ryan “Uwu.”

Alright. It’s clear this time too that he’s been rejected yet again.

Though sad as he was, it felt like his lover isn’t as down as he was.

Isn’t that just great?

Ryan stands outside the door, and says expectantly, “then please tell me when you want me, alright?”

Du You watches as the werewolf’s ears droop down, looking a bit bummed.

After a brief silence, he puts his hand onto the werewolf’s head.

Ryan’s dark green pupils dilate, and his ears and tail all perk right up in a sudden jolt, clearly not having expected his lover to touch him of his own volition.

Then Du You puts his hand back down, “good night.”

“G-, good night.”

The door closes.

Though this time Ryan does not need to latch himself onto the door. He looks fixedly at the wooden surface, and then raises his head, to touch his own head.

There still seems to be some warmth left from his lover’s palm.

It feels quite different from him snuggling himself under his hand. Does it count as a big step forward that his lover is finally willing to caress him?

It’s a shame there is nobody around to see the big, dumb smile Ryan is showing on his face, as he runs back downstairs with his tail swinging back and forth.

Du You was going to start thinking. That was what he was about to do.

Though, this time, the moment he got into bed and closed his eyes, he lost consciousness and fell into a deep sleep.
