Dexter stared languidly at the ceiling, his eyes were getting heavy but he still couldn't get back to sleep since he woke up about two hours ago. It was still very dark and the only light in the room was the dimmed lamp on Kate's bedside table. He let out a soft breath_he knew he was really tired.

He felt Kate stir in his arms again and he looked at her. She was sleeping peacefully while snuggling into his bare chest and he wrapped his arm securely around her waist again. She stuck to him through the night and he never complained, he just kept smiling whenever she snuggled closer to him.

He gently used his other hand to brush aside some strands of hair from her face and stared at her, getting more and more attracted to her beauty.

Dexter sighed again, realizing he wasn't going to sleep anytime soon. He decided to maybe go out to the living room and probably find something to do.

Slowly, he tried to slip his arm out from under Kate, without waking her of course. But she placed her arm on his chest to keep him down, he looked at her with a slightly raised eyebrow.

"You're not going anywhere this time", Kate mumbled with her eyes still closed, running her hand tenderly around his chest.

Dexter cleared his throat slightly, he wasn't aware that she had also been awake. "It's almost six and..."

"Dexter", Kate called softly as she raised her head slightly to meet Dexter's eyes. "Just close your eyes and try to sleep", She traced her hand up to cup his cheek. "Clear your mind for once".

Dexter blinked as he remembered his mother always said that to him too when he was much younger. "I know. But the sun is going to rise soon and..." Kate cut him off with a peck on the lips and she smiled at the look on his face, she had cut him unawares. A smile slowly grew on his face too. "Alright. But don't you have a paper this morning?" He asked her, now playing with strands of her hair.

Kate sighed and placed her head on his chest again,"Yeah,I still have a few more hours. Till eleven thirty".

Dexter closed his eyes and wrapped his other arm around her. "That's good then", He kissed the top of her head softly. "You know_maybe it was the thought about last night that kept me awake...", He then trailed off teasingly.

Kate instantly blushed deeply but still nudged him in his toned and rock hard abdomen,"Oh my God, Dexter, stop".

Dexter chortled.

***************

The wind blew some strands of hair to Dexter's face and he used his hand to brush it back to place. "You're sure you don't want me to come pick you up?" He asked Kate , intertwining their fingers mindlessly. They were standing next to his car in the parking lot of Kate's school.

"Yeah,I can take the bus home when I'm done. You should go home and rest_you look terrible". Kate commented.

"Really?_", Dexter tried to rub the corners of his eyes with his fingers,"I thought I look handsome".

"Of course you do. But you need to sleep_like a really good sleep", Kate stated.

Dexter sighed,"Alright then. Will call you later".He kissed the back of her hand and winked at her with a cool smile.

Kate couldn't help but blush again,"Gosh,I hope I do well in this exam", She mumbled, smiling at him coyly.

Dexter chuckled and released her hand," You don't have to worry, babe.Good luck".

"Thanks", Kate rolled her eyes playfully."Later then. Be sure to go home straight", She started backing off a bit.

Dexter gave a short salute in response.

"Bye", Kate waved before turning and Dexter watched her made her way towards the school's main building.

Dexter sighed to himself right before his phone beeped, notification for a text message. He turned to open his car while he brought his phone out of his pocket.

As expected, the text was from Melina;

We need to talk. I'm at my Dad's hotel.

For the first time, Melina's text was brief and straightforward. Dexter had been expecting her text anyway, her persistent calls even_after what went down the previous day. He just let out a breath again and returned his phone into his pocket,"I'm still gonna go home first", He mumbled to himself as he slid into the driver's seat and jammed the door next to him.

He started his car and skillfully manoeuvred out of the parking lot.

**************

Melina crossed her legs and stared at Dexter sternly. He was sitting in front of her at the small table they both sat at, with two hot coffee before them. Dexter sipped his coffee again and gently returned his cup on the table.

"Well? Aren't you going to say anything? Don't you have anything to say to me?" Melina almost snapped, peeved at his calmness.

Dexter looked at her and reclined back in his chair. "What do you want me to say?" He asked rather bluntly.

Melina scoffed,"You're really unbelievable, Dex". She said through gritted teeth, glaring at him ,"Are you forgetting one important fact here? I'm your fiancee_", She gestured to herself and Dexter almost cringed in irritation at her point,"And it's really unfair for you to just go do shit with some random undeserving chick that'll_".

Dexter instantly interjected her,"Melina. Your tone_watch what you say about her", He clearly warned with a stern face.

"Seriously", Melina mumbled frustratingly, running her fingers through a side of her hair,"You're such a jerk".

"Who said I wasn't?" Dexter reached for his coffee again but did'nt lift it to his mouth.

Melina clenched her fist,"I can go see your Dad and_".

"You can go talk to him. But just so you know, my Dad might be in a not-so-good mood. Things have been happening". Dexter shrugged nonchalantly.

Melina looked really infuriated and was angrier that she couldn't think of anything to say to Dexter.

Dexter suddenly rose up,"If you don't have anything more to say,I should leave now" . He tugged on the lapel of his shirt slightly before turning and walking out of the coffee shop.

Melina suppressed a frustrated shriek, taking the few people in the room, as she watched him walk out.

*************

"...Bye, Kate", Jessie waved at Kate as she took the other direction towards the parking lot.

"Bye, Jessie. Thanks", Kate also waved after her.

She slowly walked towards the bus stop and brought her phone out of her purse,"Should I call him?", She mumbled to herself, scrolling through her contacts and debating on whether to call Dexter or not. She was about to dial his number but stopped herself,"He might be sleeping, I'll just call later".

A call came through right when she was about to return her phone into her purse. She smiled when she saw that it was Heather calling, she immediately picked up."Hey".

"Girl, what's up? You done with your exam?" Heather's voice was cheery over the phone.

"Yup. Just now". Kate glanced at her slim leather wrist watch.

"Up for a girls night?" Heather asked her.

"Sure", Kate replied, shrugging even if she wasn't visible to Heather. "But why all of a sudden? Is something wrong?" She narrowed her eyes too.

"Nah". Heather said. "Seriously", She added when Kate left an incredulous silence.

"O_kay then". Kate said unconvincingly. "Your place?"

"Yeah. See you in a couple of hours". Heather chirped before ending the call.

Kate chuckled to herself, staring at her phone a little longer,"That girl really..."
