Deafening Silence

Where have you been, this silent night? The sky is so black I can see my thoughts in reality, but there is nothing to guide me.

Where have you been, this silent night? As the grass prickles my bare feet from beneath, and I stare into the distance, where you said you would be.

Where have you been, this silent night? The black is fading, but it fills my mind, and it seems every time I call you, you are never in sight.

Where were you, that night? Where are you, this night? Where have you been? I feel like a fool for running when you need me, for whenever I need you, it seems you're everywhere but here with me.
