As My Voice Evaporates

In crowded rooms where laughter fills the air,I stand alone, encased in silent fear.Their eyes like spotlights, I can only stare,As mirthful sounds fall distant to my ear.

My words retreat, like ships into the night,
Lost in the fog, where none can find their way. Each stuttered breath, a battle I must fight,A war within, where shadows hold their sway.

The masquerade of smiles I deftly wear,Belies the turmoil twisting deep inside.A prisoner of thoughts I cannot share,In social chains, I'm bound by what I hide.

And as the night gives way to darker skies,My voice, unheard, in quiet corners dies.
