Chapter Seventeen.

Carmen.

I am sitting on my bed, back against the wall, pillow behind my back and scrolling on my phone when Wren pushes the door open and walks in.

The navy curtains are pulled in front of the window and the only light on is the small one beside the bed on a small table.

I look up when he sits on the edge of the bed and extends his hand towards me. Palm upwards, a star shaped cookie lays on it. It's a beige-brownish cookie, one side covered with chocolate. It looks delicious.

I look him in the eye, raising a brow.

"Why-?"

He cuts me off, "Happy meeting anniversary, Carmen. It's been a month"

I want to laugh at his face. What is that?

A small smile on his face. I take the cookie and bite into it.

"Thank you, Wren. Happy anniversary to you, too" I hate chocolate. Okay, I don't hate it, but I don't eat it a lot because I hate the aftertaste. The disgusting flavor it leaves on my tongue.

He nods and then lies on his stomach, staring up at me as I finish the cookie.

"I don't have anything for you," I say. "No star or anything"

"You can be the star itself."

Grimacing slightly, I nod. Okay?

A month ago on November 12th, Perez dragged me to join the new kids at school at their lunch table.

I had asked him why we needed to go, we already had enough people we talked to, hung out and went to parties with. Perez never told me the reason, just for me to follow him.

Wren recognized me from math class???? and greeted me. I was too busy with thinking to be nice. But again, that never happened.

What also changed is that I stopped hanging out with the other kids. Since that day on, me and Perez have kept at the twins' side. Well, me mainly, he needed to keep hanging out with his few other friends and teammates.

"I can buy you a cookie, if you want. Kian too."

Wren lets out a breath that seems a bit like laugh, shaking his head, he leans on his elbows and arms, fiddling with my hairband he had picked up from beside me. "Nope."

Okay?

"Want to watch a movie?" Wren asks.

It's almost a rare occurrence when Wren has free time and he isn't running away somewhere.

"Yes," I say and nod once, "Anything specific you want to see?"

He smiles.

They don't have a TV in my room, so Wren rushes to his room to bring his laptop here. I go downstairs to get snacks while he sets everything else up.

We're settled with all the pillows and blankets and snacks and a movie and drinks and lying comfortably in my bed when Kian appears on the door, Ty under his arm.

"Without us?"

We pull our lips into straight lines, "Yes?"

"Nah," Kian slaunters forward towards the bed. Wren moves closer to me to make room for his brother who sets himself next to Wren. Ty sits on Kian's lap, laptop on Wren's.

"You have to get your own food, though"

Kian groans loudly.

Ten minutes into the movie I lay my head on Wren's shoulder to feel more comfortable. His arm comes around me and he softly threads his fingers through my hair.
