Chapter 48

"It can't be...there is a mistake somewhere I've known Carlos all my life he is the one person I can trust...he can never do anything to harm me or Sofia," Scarlet said.

"Well, he did.. he works for your father and has been keeping tabs on you... the helicopter crash was his doing he told your father where you were headed anyways he's dead now" Roman said."What?? What do you mean he's dead?" Scarlet said her eyes fixed on Roman like she was about to put a bullet in his head.

"I found him tortured him and he died before you get mad this is what he had to say," Roman said then brought out his phone and played a video In the video, Carlos said how much he hated Scarlet cause she took what he wanted the most and that was Sofia, he confessed to setting them up and giving intel to her father, and he also confessed to loving Scarlet madly but fell out of love with her when she gave birth to Sofia, he also confessed that he loved Sofia and he couldn't wait for her to grow up a little so he could have her in his bed, then the video needed with a gunshot to his head.

Scarlet couldn't believe her eyes or what she had just watched she felt a heavy blow in her chest as she tried to wrap her head around everything, Carlos was the only person she trusted on earth to think he could betray her unashamedly was beyond painful, she let out a breath as she tried to fight the tears threatening to spill out of her eyes.

"Why did you kill him," Scarlet said.

"Because I couldn't forgive him," Roman said.

"How could you deprive me of beating the hell out of that bastard!!" Scarlet said angrily as tears rolled down her face.

"Cause I couldn't take it after that confession," Roman said.

"Now it all makes sense... now it makes sense, "Scarlet said in tears.

"The second thing I want to tell you is to take a pregnancy test," Roman said.

"What? Why?" Scarlet said her brows knitted in a frown.

"Cause you are pregnant," Roman said his hands in his pant pocket and no expression on his face.

" For?" Scarlet asked.

"For me," Roman said.

"There's no way in hell that I am pregnant," Scarlet said.

"Then a pregnancy test wouldn't hurt would it??" Roman said.

"For God's sake, there are so many things we need to do.., there's a war with my father and there's Sofia to protect I am not pregnant and if I was I would have known," Scarlet said."Then take the test," Roman said.

"Screw you I have better things to do.. by the way, I need to go home," Scarlett said.

"I promise to take you home if you take the test," Roman said.

"Why on earth do you think am pregnant?? Wait don't tell me you think I'm pregnant for Xavier?" Scarlet said.

"I think you are pregnant for me I just want to confirm it," Roman said.

"And why will you even think so...anyways I don't care I just need to go home especially now I know Carlos is dead," Scarlet said.

"Then take a test," Roman said.

"How do you plan on fighting my father??" Scarlet asked.

"I'll tell you once you take the test, "Roman said.

"Stop this madness am not pregnant if I was I would have known okay so stop this and tell me how you plan to end this all... that's if you have a plan," Scarlet said frustrated.

"I know where your father is, I know how to take him down cause he wasn't a threat, to begin with... Hell, he was never a threat I was only playing along cause of Sofia...I could wipe out your father and everything he is with a snap of my finger but I keep holding back cause of Sofia.. cause of you.. he's the father of the woman I love" Roman said

Scarlet stared at him with her brows knitted in a frown she didn't know what to make of his words or his unexpected declaration of love.

"Wait what do you even take me for? Your father sent you cause he knew he would never win a head-to-head war with me.. do you even know who roman black is? I guess I've not been plain with you that's why... Scarlet I've known you since you were in high school, I knew you were going to be at that club that night and I knew I didn't use a condom cause I never planned to, and if I say you are pregnant now then you are, scarlet I know you more than you can ever imagine hell I know when you get your period, and your fathers know this too he also knows he is not a threat that's why he held my child, hostage, cause she is his only card" Roman said and closed every gap between him and scarlet.

Scarlet didn't know what to make of his words as she tried to wrap her head around all he just said, she stared at him confused, she shook her head then face palmed herself as she took a few steps away from Roman.

"So why the hell are you telling me this now? Why?" Scarlet said.

"Cause I want to end it, we have a child and we would be expecting another one, I want them to grow in a peaceful environment, I want a happy home and I want us to get married, so I do not want any unnecessary distractions, your father, my brother they are all distractions," Roman said.

"What the hell do you think you are saying Roman... ill never marry you never!" Scarlet said angrily.

"Why?" Roman asked his emotionless expression never changing

"Cause I came here to destroy you..and all this is wrong," Scarlet said.

"Then take the test and if it doesn't show that you are already two months gone then I'll drop this and just focus on your father" Roman said.

"Stop this right now.. if you could end all this why didn't you?" Scarlet said.

"Cause of you Ava," Roman said.

Scarlet's eyes widened in shock at the mention of her name, if roman knew her as Ava then she had been a fool all along, it meant that he knew her way before her father sent her, and it confirmed his claim that he had been watching her since she was in high school which made everything worse, angrily she stepped forward and slapped him as hard as she could but he didn't flinches instead his eyes stayed glued to hers.

"How dare you call me that name? how dare you play me all this while? how dare you Roman black!" Scarlet said angrily as a tear ran down her face.

"You were sent to kill me so why the hell are you acting innocent, or is it the fact that I did nothing all along that annoys you? what exactly is your problem?" Roman said.

"You... you've been playing me all along? you bastard!" Scarlet said angrily and tried to slap Roman again but this time around he caught her hand and pulled her to himself.

"That's because I've always wanted you Ava and that's because I know the man you call your father isn't your real father and I know he killed your mother" Roman said.

"What?!"
