And so it was time to move on...What these last few days had been was mostly testing the waters and seeing what they needed to work on the most. I had a good grasp of it at this point, and while the others could be trained in the traditional sense Lily was different.
"Alright," I clapped my hands together. "Sophia, you're up," I said. Sophia was leaning against the wooden guardrail for the balcony watching us train. I had already given her the gist of what I wanted her to do.
In terms of fighting smartly and making use of the tools at her disposal, she was probably one of the most impressive people I had met in this world.
It was how she managed to avoid adventurers of the loki familia's calibar in the way she did while she was protecting me. Her ingenuity was something else.
She stared down at me before hoping off the balcony and onto the ground before us.
"Change of plans, Lily come with me," I said. "You two will train with Sophia for now," I said. Lily made a surprised face, but nodded and began to follow after me as I went up the stairs to the balcony and went back into the Familia hall.
It was about time to move on to the next stage of training.
Amaterasu sat on the couch eating snacks that she had made. "Oh, hey Ciel...or no, Rimuru," she corrected herself after confirming that Lily was the only one here. I had already told Amaterasu and Sophia that Lily knew who I was.
I nodded. "Mind if join you?" I asked.
She smiled brightly. "Not at all, although I'll have to make some more snacks," she said getting up. "I'll be back in a second," she hurried off.
"...Is it just Lily or does Lady Amaterasu really like making snacks...?" Lily asked.
I laughed slightly, "that certainly does seem to be one of her favorite things to do," I agreed.
I sat down on the couch and Lily cautiously walked over and sat across from me.
"So...Is something wrong?" Lily asked, probably wondering about why I had suddenly changed things around.
"No, I just decided to move onto the next stage of training," I said. "And as much as I'd love to train all of you, I'm going to need to give you slightly preferential treatment," I said.
She frowned at that. "And why is that?"
"Well, put simply you're the strategist," I said. "Which means you're training will have to be slightly different." I snapped my fingers and before the two of us a game board appeared. She looked taken aback for a second before she looked at it.
"Chess?" she asked.
I nodded. "Do you know how to play?" I asked.
She shook her head. "I've seen it others play it though so I have a vague idea." she admitted. "but...I've only seen it a handful of times."
"That's fine, might even be for the best."
I set up the pieces and explained the rules. Amaterasu had already came back with more snacks.
I ate a small vanilla cookie she had made...it was good. Just the right amount of sweetness combined with a smooth texture.
Just how does she make them so fast without burning them??? I still wondered, but once more I pushed the question to the back of my mind.
"Alright, let's begin," I said turning to Lily.
She made a determined face and nodded. "Yes,"
