Themistonoe was the first to speak as they left the Archives and walked out onto the moonlit streets. "With this fortune, I can finally restore my family name after many years of shame. Giving a generous donation to the archives may help me expand my research."

Beside her, Ikkos nodded thoughtfully. "And I can buy a strong house, retire early, and spend my later years living comfortably."

Mnesarete's eyes shone with a renewed passion for scholarly work. "I'll create a personal library and writing studio at home, completely devoted to cataloguing our journeys."

Then Dex turned to Chrysomallo, taking her hands. "With your approval, my love, I want to leave behind my questionable past. Let's build a life together based on trust and doing what's right."

Chrysomallo smiled. "I accept, and with our newfound wealth, I can further develop my mapmaking skills for the benefit of all. A loving heart and your companionship are more than enough for me."

Shadow and Athena stood next to each other, clearly bonded as well. When Dex and Chrysomallo entered, Shadow neighed in greeting and nuzzled his master's hand. Chrysomallo gave him a loving scratch between the eyes before turning her attention to her own horse.

"Athena, you brave soul, you've faithfully carried me this whole journey," she said, embracing the silvery neck. Athena softly whinnied and nuzzled Chrysomallo's cheek with her nose.

As Dex removed Shadow's equipment, the stallion briefly turned his head to nuzzle Athena in the neighbouring stall. She gently nudged him back, their long-lasting companionship evident, just like any lifelong partner.

While Chrysomallo groomed her mare's coat to achieve a shining lustre, Athena remained calm and still, seemingly aware of her master's joyful mood. Shadow watched them both with affectionate dark eyes and was rewarded with an apple each, which he happily crunched on.

"Our lives have changed forever thanks to these noble horses," Dex pondered as he brushed Shadow. Chrysomallo nodded, smiling at the pair. "They mean more to us than just transportation—they're family members who have carried us to victory. I hope they understand how much we cherish them."

Shadow neighed once more and touched his nose to Athena's side, seemingly in agreement. Standing side by side in their stalls, the horses appeared content in the love of their masters turned mates—a testament to seeing Dex and Chrysomallo's bond finally sealed.

Themistonoe stared out at the moonlit street as Dex finished tending to Shadow. In the distance, she noticed a familiar figure wearing a pink turban beneath the lamplight.

"Is that... Shapur?" she whispered in disbelief.

As the figure approached, she gasped. "It is! Shapur!"

Without thinking, Themistonoe ran towards the street, crying his name. The man turned, and recognition appeared on his face. "Themis?"

They hugged each other tightly as if to make sure the other was real. Tears rolled down Themistonoe's cheeks. "How is this possible? I never thought I'd see you again!"
