It's strange.
Here I was with my 1st place in Policy Debate and my 4th place in Extemp. Something I had been working so hard for the past two years, being stuck in sems after sems until I finally broke to finals, and of all tournaments it was AT STATE!
Yet...I feel calm...
But when I looked at him...
There he was, less than twenty feet away from me, Adrian, my Adrian, talking to Genevieve and Cloudy.
He's laughing.
What was he laughing about?
How could he stand there and laugh and look so beautiful?
One moment, I'm gazing at the way his eyes sparkle and how he holds the 1st place Varsity Policy Debate medal with so much pride, and the next, I find myself on stage.
Oh my god, I'm crazy.
What the hell am I doing?
I grabbed the microphone, slightly shaking. It's like I can't stop the words from spilling out of my mouth, and I began to speak:
"I never understood what it meant to have everything everywhere all at once until I met you. You're like a force of nature, sweeping me off my feet and taking me to places I never even knew existed. With you, I feel like I can touch the sky, reach the stars, and explore every corner of the universe."
People stopped their celebrations and turned to face me, all eyes on me.
His eyes on me.
I'm actually crazy.
OH MY GOD.
THIS IS IN FRONT OF EVERYONE???
WAIT WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT???? UHHHH
UMMM WELL TOO LATE NOW
I take a deep breath.
But...he's here...with me...
I have to do this.
"So, I'm not going to ignore it any longer.
I love you."
