The beat echoed in the room, my voice intertwining with the music, drowning out the anxiety that gripped me. Music was my sanctuary, my means of expression, and healing. While therapy failed me, singing and creating beats helped me find solace.

"Anthony," his voice broke through the melody.

I halted the song, turning to find my boyfriend at the door, holding my four-year-old daughter. My personal life remained separate from my career, and our on-and-off relationship had endured for years. My drunken night with an old friend resulted in my little princess, Asai Song August—my world and a source of unimaginable love.

"Daddy!" She beamed as he set her down.

She rushed to me. "My song." Grinning widely, I embraced her, gently swaying and lifting her onto my leg. "You're here early, little baby." I kissed the back of her head, fixing her tousled hair. "Momma said she had a meeting," she informed me, her head resting against my chest. "Aw, okay. Did you give Jaciah some love?" I pointed towards him, leaning against the door frame with his tattooed skin shimmering in the light.
