As Ava and I sat in the cab, the vibrant chatter filled the confined space. Ava, true to her nature, was buzzing with excitement, discussing the upcoming charity gala and the potential highlights of the event. Meanwhile, I took a moment to send a quick text to my mom, assuring her that I'd be back soon. It dawned on me that I hadn't bid farewell to my parents or informed them about my swift departure.

*Sigh* Ava, you pulled me into this so quickly that I didn't even get to say goodbye to my parents properly," I confessed, my fingers tapping on the phone screen.

Ava chuckled, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Relax, Lia. It's just a night out. Your parents will survive without you for a few hours. Besides, we're on a mission to make this gala unforgettable!"

I couldn't help but smile at Ava's infectious enthusiasm, finding comfort in her unwavering positivity. The cab moved steadily through the city, carrying us toward an evening filled with glitz, glamour, and perhaps a few unexpected surprises.

The cab pulled up to the venue, and as I stepped out, my eyes widened at the spectacle before me. The air hummed with excitement, and the surroundings exuded opulence. A line of luxurious cars, each more extravagant than the last, formed a display of affluence. Men and women dressed up elegantly which screamed power and money.

Bodyguards, stern-faced and watchful, stood at every corner of the building, adding an extra layer of security to the event. The grandeur of the scene was both awe-inspiring and intimidating, making it clear that we were stepping into a world far removed from our usual reality. Ava, undeterred, nudged me with a grin, signaling that this night was about to unfold in ways we hadn't imagined.

I don't know why I decided to accompany her in the first place.

"Come on, Lia. Don't make that gloomy face let's hop inside!" Ava giggled in excitement.

With Ava leading the way, we entered the glamorous venue, greeted by the harmonious melodies of a live orchestra. The atmosphere inside was a fusion of elegance and extravagance, with dazzling chandeliers casting a warm glow on the gathered guests.

Ava leaned in, her excitement contagious. "Lia, this is our chance to shine! Just imagine the stories we'll have to tell after tonight."

"Yeah yeah, how exciting" I sighed.

As we moved through the crowd, I couldn't help but marvel at the designer gowns, glittering jewelry, and polished suits surrounding us. The anticipation built as we approached the heart of the gala, where the main event was unfolding.
