Scarlet sighed and accepted the drink, sitting down beside Sofia and placing her head on her lap. Now that they were back, her daughter was in danger again, but Scarlet was determined to protect her with all she had, even if it meant risking her own life.

Xavier informed them that they would stay at their hotel for the night. The next day, a driver would take them wherever they wanted to go. He also reminded Scarlet to give Sofia her medication and handed her the bag of drugs he had gotten for her and stepped out.

A few minutes later, Xavier returned with a basket of fruits from the hospital's fruit shop. Scarlet raised a questioning brow, but Xavier explained that Sofia needed lots of fruits.

"The driver is ready when you are," Xavier said.

Scarlet nodded, then she stood up from the chair after carefully placing Sofia's head on the pillow. She knew that this might be the last time she would see Xavier, and deep down, it hurt. However, she also knew that she couldn't let her feelings stop her from leaving. She was truly grateful to both him and Catarina for all they had done for her and Sofia. She was determined to reciprocate the kindness they had shown her and Sofia one day.

"Thank you so much from the depths of my heart," Scarlet said as she fought back tears.

"Don't hesitate to call me if you need anything, anytime," Xavier said as he hugged her.

"I'll miss you, but I'll patiently wait for you," Xavier said, then placed a kiss on Scarlet's forehead.

Scarlet broke the hug and wiped her teary eyes. She felt overwhelmed with emotions, but she shrugged it off . She walked over to where Sofia was lying, intending to pick her up, but Xavier beat her to it. Scarlet smiled and followed him out of the office, holding the drugs and the fruit basket in her hands. They got on the elevator, and Scarlet couldn't help but admire how gentle and caring Xavier was with Sofia. The way he held her made Scarlet smile, and she thought to herself that he would make a great father one day.

As they reached the parking lot, Xavier put Sofia inside the car and then took the fruit basket from Scarlet and placed it in the trunk. He then introduced Scarlet to the driver, and after exchanging pleasantries, Scarlet got into the car. However, just as the driver was about to move the car, three black SUVs blocked their path, and several intimidating men emerged from them. Scarlet immediately stepped out of the car to investigate the situation, but Xavier stood in front of her to shield her. Nevertheless, Scarlet slipped under Xavier's arm and stepped out in front, as she didn't need protection from these thugs. In fact, she was the one with something to protect.

Scarlet and the others in the car were blocked by a group of men who had arrived in SUVs. A fourth SUV, which Scarlet suspected belonged to the boss, arrived and stopped between the other cars. One of the men opened the door and the person who stepped out of the car gave Scarlet mixed emotions.

In all his glory Roman Black stepped out of the car with his eyes fixated on Scarlet and an unreadable expression on his face, subconsciously Scarlett took a step back as he approached her, Roman stopped in front of her as his eyes held hers like he was drilling a hole into her soul, they both stood that way for some minutes just staring at each other.

"I....I...I've missed you" Roman said softly as he stared into her eyes.

Scarlet found herself lost in Xavier's beautiful grey eyes. In that moment, she realized that her emotions were conflicted. She wanted to tell him that she missed him too, but she couldn't bring herself to say it. This hesitation left her feeling hurt and questioning her true feelings. Had she fallen for Xavier? Why couldn't she express to Roman that she missed him as well? Was she unsure about whether she liked Roman or Xavier? All these thoughts left her feeling confused and unsure.

"Roman" Xavier said gaining their attention.

"Xavier" Roman said.

The two brothers stood facing each other, their intense glares giving away their animosity towards each other. Roman's clenched fist indicated his readiness to engage in violence, and if there wasn't someone standing between them, it was likely that he would have attacked Xavier. The situation was tense, and it seemed like any sudden move would trigger an eruption of chaos.

"Oh boy, what have I gotten myself into?"

Were Scarlet's thoughts as she stared at both of them.***************************************************************************************************THANKS FOR READINGXOXO
