Under the soft afternoon sunlight, Ragini found herself immersed in thoughts of the previous night. The memory of Aaditya's arm around her waist and the playful way he had called her "princess" in his husky, barely audible voice lingered in her mind like a sweet melody, distracting her from her chores -everything played on a loop in her head

Seeking comfort and a confidante, she decided to share her thoughts with her mischievous younger sister, Nandini. She had a knack for lightening the mood and teasing Ragini about Aaditya. Even though Nandini was younger, she possessed an air of playfulness and had a knack for perceiving matters of the heart.

Sitting in the cozy nook of her room, Ragini hesitated a moment before opening up,

Ragini's pov-

"Nandini, something... unusual happened last night."

Her voice conveyed a mix of excitement and uncertainty, reflecting the impact the encounter had on her.

Nandini looked up from the embroidery ring, sensing the intrigue in Ragini's expression. She kept the thread and needle aside and diverted all her attention towards Ragini
"Spill it, jiji. You seem a bit preoccupied,I felt something was off in the morning as well."

Ragini recounted the night's events, describing Aaditya's unexpected closeness and the endearing use of "princess" that had left her both bewildered and enchanted.

"Last night While I was reading he ran into me"

"Who is 'he'- wait you mean prince-"

"Yess"

"Huh!? What happened then jiji, everything alright?"
Concerned filled Nandini's voice

"He- uhm we were standing very close Nandini, and the way he called me 'princess' in that husky voice... Argh I can't seem to forget it."

Nandini grinned mischievously
"Ah, it seems our prince charming has left quite an impression! Could this be the beginning of a beautiful story, like the ones from your book who-?"

Flustered, Ragini protested
"Nandini, it's not that simple! He's getting married to me,but it won't decrease the burden of the responsibilities he holds"

Nandini chuckled,
"Of course, jiji, but sometimes, the heart has its own plans. Maybe you should let yourself be carried away by these unexpected moments."

"But I Don't want to build my hopes higher they're already skyrocketing since the last night's incident"

"Ohh ho,i think have to inform jijaji , that because of him my jiji is so distracted that She's not able to even breathe let alone doing anything else!"

Just then, their Maa-sa entered the room. She noticed there was a conversation going on and added her perspective.

"Pranam maa-sa" we say in unison

"Khush raho. Ragini, it's essential to understand your responsibilities. These alliances and connections are part of our duty. Emotions are important, but we must balance them with our obligations."

"I know, Maa-sa, but sometimes, I feel like this relation has no future. He considers me a mere responsibility. Yesterday when we went for a walk around the palace, he even mentioned it in passing when you asked us to go have a conversation"

Maa-sa became silent for a moment and then after a good minute she breaks the silence.
"Communication is key dear. Perhaps it's worthwhile to have an open conversation with Aaditya. Clarify your feelings to him and understand his perspective as well.
Give him some time my dear. It is okay to have different perspectives but you know they change with time maybe you'll have to work in that and you guys will definitely find a common ground."

"Yes anyway, so what if his perspective doesn't change, he will definitely be snatched with my sister's beauty"nandini interuppted

"Nandini...you Don't tease your sister so much"

"Maa-sa, jijaji himself admitted that he had lost his senses after seeing jiji" she has to spill everything in front of maa-sa. I'll kill her if she continues this.

"Nandini, shut up, no- no Maa-sa Nothing like this happened,She's lying, why Don't you scold her"
Instead of scolding or shutting her up, maa-sa also starts laughing at my flustered state.

"Maa-sa, you are also laughing at me,this is not fair I'm calling Bapusa" I cross my hands above my chest, and my lips form a pout.

"No no beta, I am not laughing at you and Nandini stop teasing her, She's older than you!" I finally smile.

"So what Maa-sa, She's getting married so teasing is a must"

"Nandini wait and watch untill you get married, then I'll show you what teasing is"

"Wait, from where did my marriage come in between,Maa-sa look I am still a child how can you marry me off so soon, Don't you love me anymore"
Nandini fake cries in front of maa-sa and we burst into bits of laughter. She hugs her tightly making faces, giving puppy eyes which in her case works everytime.

"Stop acting, I am not marrying you off---but ragini, beta I did not even realise when my daughter grew up so fast and now She's Getting married in a few days, don't forget us there, keep writing letters Because I have no idea when will I get to see you again?"Maa-sa said her voice cracking a bit in the end

"Maa-sa what are you saying how will I not visit you here, I don't even know if I will be able to live there for a longer period of time,
without you all everything seems so dull"
I said stopping the tears from falling down my eyes while she cups my face and hugs me.

"No beta, you shouldn't say this they're your new family now and I am sure Aaditya will keep you happy"said maa-sa. I hope whatever she said will come true.

"If not happy he will definitely keep her blushing, right jiji!?"Nandini teased me again and started giggling. I was flustered but still she doesn't need to tease me so much!

"Tu ruk blushing ki bachi yaha aa"
You wait here, I'll tell you what this blushing is."
Nandini ran and hid behind her mother, shalini asking her save her from the elder sister
The trio continued discussing matters, as the sun began to set, casting a warm, golden glow in the room. Ragini realized that amidst her role as the elder sister and the weight of responsibilities, unexpected connections had the power to shape their lives in beautiful, unforeseen ways. And perhaps, it was worth exploring those connections with an open heart and honest communication.
She understood what her mother tried to convey, she had to be open about her feelings and only then it will be possible for Aaditya to reciprocate them.
