Chapter 18: Exposed (part 1)

Then Minx passed on the hallway I was when I listened to their conversation. She looked around and her eyes trailed around the books that fell before walking away. I exhaled in relief and started crawling back down. Then I remembered that Clay didn't walk away yet. I looked at him and he had a sad look on his face. I felt bad.

I made my way away from him, before turning back to normal once I was hidden between more bookshelves. Then I started to walk towards Clay, he was still standing there, lost in his thoughts. I tapped his shoulder gently and he finally turned to me. "Clay? What's wrong?" I asked, cupping his cheeks in my hand. I already knew what happened, I just couldn't tell him that I was eavesdropping.

He was on verge of tears but I could tell he tried hard to not let them pour down his cheeks. Without any other word, I hugged him. He immediately hugged back and let his tears fall. He sobbed quietly as I made circles on his back.

After a while, I could hear some sniffs from him. He began pulling away from me. "I'm sorry it's just. I got into a small argument with someone I don't really like. I guess they kind of touched a soft spot." He explained. And I nodded.

We stared at each other in silence for a moment. And then I noticed that he was staring at my lips and that we were very close to each other. His hands gently placed on my waist, mine around his neck. Both our lips began approaching one another. I could hear my heartbeat getting faster at every time we got closer. And at the moment our lips were about to crash together-

"HEY, What are you two doing over there?" Both of us pulled away, almost falling onto the ground at how fast we got away from each other. We turned to see who it was. It was the school librarian. Both of us got red. "Go back to class right now" She screamed at us. And we hurried outside the library.

As we walked in the hallway, with absolutely no one because they were all in class and the both of us were late we started laughing our heart out. The both of us didn't care about anything else but us. "George, let's skip class for today" Clay suggested. I, who was not a fan of breaking rules, agreed. To be honest, all I wanted right now was to just be with him. I didn't feel it before but now I know I had fallen in love with someone I never thought I would have liked.

We were now outside the school, walking in the street until we got to a park. We sat on a bench and stayed in a comfortable silence. "You know, I could give you more tutoring. That way I could help you pass 11th grade." I suggested and he turned to with grateful smile. He nodded at a speed that could have probably broke his neck and I laughed. "And also, Dream..." I hesitantly asked. He turned to me with a curious yet loving stare. A look I usually see him give me but didn't notice until now.

"When do you think we could go during our date?" His face turned bright red. "I-I don't know. A d-date?" He replied, confused but still red as a tomato. Well to me it just looked like his face got tanned. (You know, I can't see red.) "Well, last you asked me if I wanted to go out with you. I'm so sorry I thought it was just hanging out like friends since no one ever asked me on a date before. And also because I thought you didn't like me like that. I mean I'm just a nerd after all and you're so handsome and amazing and-"

My words were cut off with lips placed against mine. I could feel heat rising up my cheeks. My first kiss.

After a few instant, the blond pulled away, giggling as he saw my expression. I looked away from him, covering my red face with my hands. He chuckled even more. He held my hands away from my face and made me look at his emerald eyes. "You were talking too much" he laughed. I looked down, embarrassed, face reddening more if possible.

He stopped laughing, seeing how uncomfortable I was. "I'm sorry, I should have asked for permission before doing that." He apologized and that is when looked back at him, reassuring him that it was fine I was just shocked besides it was my first kiss as well. I hugged him tight and hugged back.
