Chap. 10 "Pre-Date Jitters"

(Y/n's Pov)

Here I am. Looking at my reflection. But I wasn't paying attention to what I was wearing or how I looked. I just froze, staring at myself for what felt like an eternity until my mother bursted into my room and started taking multiple pictures of me.
"Ugh mom seriously? What are you doing?" I asked as she continued to smile at me taking more probably horrendous photos of me
"I'm just so happy my little baby is going on a date" she exclaimed joyfully almost jumping up and down.
"Like I said it's not a date"
"The more you say that the more I feel like you're just in denial" I sighed in disbelief.
"So...how do I look?" I asked hoping for a genuine response since I was really nervous. I wiped my hands on the fabric of my outfit and fixed my hair, staring intensely at my mom waiting for an answer.
"Absolutely gorgeous" she uttered. I smiled at her and then slowly felt panicked.
"What if everything goes wrong like what if I embarrass myself and he thinks I'm weird and never talks to me again and I end up...." I carried on until my mother shut me up
"Gosh Y/n you're such an overthinking everything is going to be fine just be yourself"
I sighed and fixed my clothes in the mirror one more time.
"Ding!" And noise rang from my phone. I picked it up off the counter and stared at the familiar name that made my phone screen light up.....Steven.

Hey Y/n I'm almost ready I'll be there in 5. Im so excited

I slightly chuckled at the image he sent, turned my phone off and took a deep breath before turning back to my mom.
"Yeah you're right. Maybe I'm overthinking things too much" I look up from my phone to see that my mom had already left the room.
"Mom?" 😦

(Time skip)
Steven's Pov

I nervously grip the steering wheel, my palms becoming sweatier every second.
"Calm yourself down Steven you're just hanging out with Y/n, everything will be fine" I thought to myself
I took slow deep breaths and loosened my tight grip.
But what if you trip and embarrass yourself?
What if you spill something on yourself?

What if.........

Thoughts of everything that could go wrong flooded my head. I stop the car abruptly.
"I can't do this" I said panicked. My breaths were quicker and I felt my heart thumping against my chest. I quickly tried to calm my self down. Reassuring myself that everything was going to go as planned. I pressed my foot against the gas peddle lightly and turned into the street where y/n lived.
The full colours of her grandmothers big house wasn't hard to miss. I always adored the grandmothers house the way it sat there for years. Many memories created there. Generation after generation lived in that house. I stepped out of my car and let out a breathy sigh.
"Well here goes nothing"
