Cruel Truth

We were just listening closely to the words of Lestheo. Since he was ahead of us, we knew he had already stumbled upon this conundrum. The unveil mastery thing. Hindi ko pa rin maintindihan iyon kahit parang ang simple lang ng sinasabi niya. But my curiosity still have not come to desist.

"What are you trying to say, Theo?" Hindi na siya tinigilan ng kapatid hanggang sa makapasok  kami sa Bistro for a brunch. I was astonished after roaming my sight on the old-style restaurant. Hanggang doon kasi ang dami pa ring mga estudyante and I could finally recognized some of them.

"My apologies. But I am unable to speak about it on my own. The professors forbid us seniors to tell you for safety." Lestheo muttered. My brows furrowed again in confusion.

Safety? Is it that dangerous that even knowing such could be a threat?

"Reina!"

Napalingon ako at nakita si Eli sa isang trestle table. She waved and pointed at their empty seats, inviting me to join. Hindi pa ako nakakahakbang ay nauna nang tumakbo doon si Laurie.

Kita mo'to.

"Hi!" Masigla niya pang bati. Hindi ako sure kung kilala niya iyon pero nakompirma iyon ng makita ang ekspresyon ni Eli. Napa-iling nalang ako at naglakad papunta sa kanila. Narinig ko pa ang tawa ni Lestheo sa kakulitan ng kapatid. She's at it again. Hindi niya na 'yan titigilan for sure.

"Hey?" Confused na bati pabalik ni Eli sa kaniya at ngumiti sa'kin.

"Hello!" Nilahad ko kay Laurie ang kamay ko. "Laurie and... Lestheo." Turo ko din sa humalik sa kamay niya. "My friends."

"Oh pleased to meet you." Bumeso pa ito sa kaibigan ko. She pointed at the gracious miss beside her na kumaway din agad sa'min. "My sister, Florice." Nakipag-shake hands agad ito sa'min. Natuwa ako dahil ang cute-cute niyang ngumiti. Parang makulit din.

Hindi nga ako nagkamali dahil hindi na siya tumigil dumaldal hanggang dumating 'yong dishes namin.

"I got so stoked after knowing na may dalawang bagong estudyante sa Dux to the point na nilakad ko talaga mula ikatlong gusali ng Primus para dito!" Nakangising bulalas nito, tuwang tuwa. Napasapo pa sa noo si Eli na mas nahihiya sa pinagsasabi ng kapatid.

"Dux?" Halos sabay naming sambit ni Laurie. Binalingan ko si Lestheo na inaayos ang mga pagkain namin. My attention was diverted from the delish Salmon coulibiac sa sinabi niya. If I'm right, Dux means the chief or the leader.

"Yes? You're from Dux class, right? Seatmate mo nga din sya diba?" Turo niya kay Eli kaya tumango ako. Hindi pa rin ma gets.
