Chapter 8

I woke up to the ringtone of my phone. Ngumiwi ako and tried to cover my ears using my pillow, but the ringtone just won't stop. I grumbled and reached for my phone on top of my desk.

I squinted my eyes from the bright light that emerged from my phone. Kumunot ang noo ko nang makita ang pangalan ni Jhasper sa caller screen.

"Yes?" I asked when I answered the phone.

'Ouch, hindi mo manlang ba ako babatiin ng good morning? Ganyan ka na sakin?'

"What do you want?" I asked in a raspy voice. My eyes half open, I still want to sleep. We exchanged numbers the other day but I didn't expect that he will call me this early in the morning, what time is it by the way?

'Kagigising mo lang?'

"What do you think?" Saad ko at tumawa naman siya mula sa kabilang linya.

'Sabi ko nga, ang sungit eh. Bangon na, we were supposed to hang out today, remember?'

Hindi ko talaga alam kung paano ako pumayag sa gusto niyang magha-hangout daw kami. Siguro sa pagod ko nung 2nd test ay hindi ko namalayan na umagree nalang ako sa lahat ng sinabi niya. And now, I'm stuck.

"Yeah, yeah. Be there in 30 minutes" I sleepily said and I heard him sigh from the other line.

'Do you even know where to go?'

He asked but I remained silent due to the sleepiness that crossed me. Hinihintay ko lang din siyang magsalita para mapatay ko na yung tawag at makaidlip ng kaunti.

'Meet me at MOA okay?'

He said and I just nodded even though he cannot see it. Pinatay ko na yung call and looked at the time on my phone.

Yeah, i'll just take a short nap until 7:30 at saka ako babangon at mag-iintindi.

Ngunit hindi pa manlang sumasara ang talukap ng mga mata ko ay narinig ko nanaman ang annoying na ringtone ko. Maybe I should change the tune.

Inis ko itong dinampot at inilagay sa tenga ko without even seeing who the caller was.

"What do you want?" I annoyingly said and O heard a chuckle from the other line. I knew that chuckle very well.

'A little cranky today Kai?'

"Yes, let me sleep" I said and was about to end the call when I heard my father's voice from the other end.

'Kai? How are you sweetie?'

"Im fine dad" I answered softly.

'How's the mission going on?'

"Its going well, there's still some tests going on so I'm still not sure who will win but I'll make sure to be the bodyguard" I said.

'That's the spirit. You seem quite tired today'

"Yeah" I simple said and my father chuckled.

'Alright, rest well sweetie'

"Thanks dad" I sleepily said.

'Okay, end the call. My daughter needs some sleep'

I heard dad said to Reycko but Reycko just chuckled.

'Your voice suits you. I almost didn't recognize you'

"Thanks"

'Alright, have your rest. Your dad asked me to call you, you haven't been in touch with the communcation device in a while now. But we understand, have your rest and take care. Love u'
