As Shaoshang returned after two days, the memories of Hua County flooded her mind. The bloodshed, the sense of helplessness, and above all, her own inability to change anything. The weight of those memories pressed upon her heart, making it heavy with emotions she could no longer ignore.

This time she spoke with the villagers. Unlike before, she didn't storm off but approached them with a newfound warmth in her heart. As she bid them farewell, her eyes welled up with tears, realizing that these people had endured so much, yet they found the strength to carry on.

"Madam, you can always send me a letter whenever you need anything," Shaoshang assured an old lady.
The old lady hugged her and blessed her.

This time, she wasn't the one giving them hope but learning from them. She felt how she had behaved like a corpse all these months, yet these people still held a flicker of hope in their eyes. She talked to everyone and then moved to a man.

"In front of the Fabric Store. Do you remember those days?" She asked in a voice only audible to him.

He nodded.

The entire journey, her mind held onto one thought... What if they hadn't arrived on time? Her death wouldn't even be reported, and her existence would have been completely lost.

In the evening, she reached the palace and went straight to her majesty.

"My Shaoshang, how was your journey?" Her majesty asked as they sat for tea.

"Everything went smoothly, your majesty," she answered.

"Why do you look so tired, Niao Niao?" Her majesty inquired.

"Her majesty, the villagers spent these three days ce...celebrating. We didn't have much time to rest," she completed her sentence with heaviness in her heart. She couldn't reveal the truth for the time being.

They talked for a while and ate together. After that, Shaoshang retired to her room.

The darkness of her room pierced her soul, enveloping her in its suffocating embrace. As she looked around, she couldn't help but notice how her living space had mirrored the state of her heart over the past few months. The darkness in her room seemed to have seeped into her very being, almost reaching her heart.

She moved to sit in front of her study table, where she had spent countless hours lost in her thoughts, trying to escape the reality she couldn't bear. The weight of her emotions bore down on her, and tears welled up in her eyes, fighting for release. Breathing became difficult as a lump formed in her throat, and all she could do was let the tears flow, accepting the painful reality she had been avoiding for so long.

With her eyes closed, Shaoshang allowed herself to fully embrace the depths of her grief. Her breaths became heavy and labored as she willingly delved into the painful memories that had haunted her for so long. Every fiber of her being seemed to be entwined with the agony of her past, and she couldn't escape the flood of emotions that overwhelmed her.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, finally breaking free from the confines of her heart, as if they had been longing for this moment of release. She didn't hold back the pain or try to suppress the sorrow anymore. Instead, she surrendered to the rawness of her feelings, allowing herself to mourn the loss, the betrayal, and the shattered dreams. She finally gathered her courage to relive those painful memories.

She finally gathered her courage to relive those painful memories
