Chapter 20

Aayu had went over for about 2 hours. I was basically working as well as talking with everyone. Eloise was continuously texting me as it was about a important meeting going on asking me to join in. And I knew exactly that it was irritating my nani. She hated it whenever anyone used their mobiles in front of her. I excused myself and went to my room to call Eloise. I told her I would join the virtual meeting in a few minutes. I quickly wore my white tshirt and topped it with my blazer. We started the meeting and she screamed on the top of her lungs, "CONGRAGILATIONS TO THE BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR!!!" 

I was confused for a minute but she screamed, "Dummy we have won the award for the businesswomen of the year and we have to attend it, with a plus one. The felicitation will be held in Mumbai next week. I'll be coming over. We need to celebrate it together." I smiled and squealed softly almost in tears. "Okay ma'am but you are going to bring your plus one right? And umm, can you maybe come over early, with uncle aunt and Theo? I'm officially getting engaged and I want you all to be there for me. Your parents are almost like my parents and I love them. I understand nani is here but I want you to be a part of it. I'm going to speak to my parents about it. And maybe we can speak and sort out stuff before the engagement and try to improve the relationship." 

"Kyra, I don't really know because of the visa and stuff of them. They haven't visited India in ages. I have been coming back and forth but I don't really know, but probably during your wedding, I'll get them? But for sure, I'll come over honey. I won't be leaving you alone on your precious day and I want to meet my boyfie too. I haven't even had my first kiss yet.", she squished her cheeks and said. I laughed lightly and said okay and bid our goodbyes. I freshened up and ordered Ice-cream to celebrate and texted Aayu, who I wanted to inform it the first. I texted him 'Aayu, Elo and I won the award for Businesswomen of the year.' I kept my phone on my bed and headed downstairs to inform everyone. 

I told them about it and everyone were very happy about it and hugged me tightly. I was almost brought into tears but I was feeling very happy, but my nani was kind of confused. I nodded at everyone and went down to sit besides her and said, "Nani I know you won't be happy after hearing this, but I along with Eloise Clementine, your other grand-daughter had started a business 6 years ago, when I was studying in New York. We started it under the name of Clementine Industries. I am the chairwoman while she is the President. Initially, it was a side hustle, but it grew so much, that, we reached here. And today, she informed me, we had won the award for business women of the year. I understand you may be angry, but do you know, aunt misses you so much. She has an entire wall filled with photo frames from back then. And I know that somewhere deep, you miss her too. Eloise and Theo are amazing. Eloise looks so much like how you looked when you were young. Please start talking to them. It's not a crime to love someone and marry them, may it be some other religion or nationality."

She got up with a stern face and left once I was done speaking to her room. Kiara came and hugged me which I reciprocated and I went to my room to get my phone. Soon the ice-cream arrived and I served it to everyone. I took one scoop of ice-cream along with mine and went to Nani's room. I saw her sitting on the bed while thinking about something. I softly mumbled nani and went near her. I sat besides her and gave her the scoop of ice-cream which was her favourite. I took out my phone and pulled out the family picture of the Clementine's. I showed it to her. She sniffled a little and broke out crying. I quickly hugged her and told her, "Nani, you still have time to correct the mistake. Go and speak to them. She is your daughter. She yearns for your comfort and Elo and Theo also would like to meet you. Please, Eloise will be coming for the engagement. I'll manage how to bring the other 3 here."  She nodded a yes and told me to call aunt. 

I quickly video-called my aunt, who was having a coffee. I said, "Hiii, well I have a surprise for you." I gave the phone to my grandmother, who was sobbing softly on seeing her. I went outside with my ice cream while they both talked and sat down on the couch. I went to my mom who was in the kitchen and told her what happened. She hugged me while being in tears. Soon, nani came down while smiling with my phone in her hand. She gave the phone to my mom and my aunt told them that they were joining us. We all hugged each other tightly. I was very sleepy so I excused myself to go to my room. I went to my room and checked the phone if Aayu had replied me back. He had not even seen the text so I kept the phone aside and sighed softly, while sinking into the bed. I was about to sleep but once again, someone knocked my room's door. I went and slowly opened the door to see who it was. It was Kiara who was wide awake and had earphones plugged in. She said, "Di, let me stay with you. Nani is snoring a lot today. I can't sleep, please." 

She entered the room and we decided to talked for some time, but then Kiara was sleepy. We soon fell asleep and entered out dreamlands. The next day I was woken up by my alarm which I wanted to smash on the wall, but I decided to get up as I had to get to work. Yesterday night, after Kiara fell asleep, I had decided to hand out my resignation from the company and help Eloise manage the company full time. I got done with my morning chores and got into my work clothes. I did my hair and put on a smile on my face. I went downstairs to the living room to see almost everyone up sitting on the chairs with their plates of food ready to dig in. We were having breakfast. After finding the perfect time I said, "Mom, dad, I have decided to resign and work full time and help Eloise in managing the company. I'll be going to give it in today."

My father looked at me and said, "I don't mind it. Like it's not going to affect me anyways. And personally I'm proud my daughter is very intelligent and proved herself, even when I had offered to help you." I smiled while my mother came and hugged me. I left as soon as I was done with my breakfast. Aayushman had not seen my message which was irritating me a hell lot. I huffed out angrily and went straight to his cabin. I knocked on the door but then their assistant came and told me Aayushman had called for a day off while Abhimanyu was going to be there soon. I went to my cabin and started working. 

It was lunch time, when I went to their cabin and I met Abhi. As soon as I entered he said, "Congratulations to the businesswoman of the year!!!!!" I went in and thanked him and gave him a brotherly hug and said, "Sir, I cam here to give you this." I extended my hand and held my resignation letter. He looked at me confusingly, "I have decided to resign from my job because I want to focus on my personal ventures." He nodded and said, "Well, I understand Ms.Malhotra. However, you need to work here for a week. Then you are free from here." I smiled at him and thanked him. "Abhi, do you know where Aayu is? I have been trying to contact him since the time I got to know about this news. I sent him a text. He hasn't even seen it. I'm worried." ,I said with a gloomy face.

"Awww bhabi don't worry, I'll tell him to get back to you soon. I'll smack hiss ass for you. How dare he hurt and make my partner in crime angry, huh?", he said which made laugh lightly. I got up and went out headed to infrom my team that I was resigning. They were very sad to hear it, but I comforted them. I went to my cabin and sat down to completed my file, however, I just couldn't focus as I was getting very worried and was panicking.  I quickly called him, but they went into voice mail. I went to Abhi's cabin again. I was on the verge of crying when I knocked on his cabin. 

He let me in and asked me what was wrong. I controlled my tears and said in a hiccupping voice, "He still hasn't messaged me and is making me worried. Did you talk to him or something? I'm really worried. I feel like I'm getting a panic attack." He came in front of me and said softly, "Bhabi, don't worry. He is totally fine. Yesterday we had went out where he lost his phone. He is preparing for the engagement today and will get a new phone by the evening. So don't worry, and if you are okay, then how about you come over to our place today after work? Aayu or I will drop you back at home later. Okay?" I nodded a yes and then he pulled me into a brotherly hug which I gladly returned and then went back to my cabin feeling a little relaxed.
