The screen played a video of a man with veins creeping all over his face. He wailed and contorted in inhuman forms.

"It is violent, unpredictable, and incurable. Or so we thought. In time a new generation emerged that could survive the virus. Suddenly there was a reason to hope for a cure. But finding it would not be easy."

Molly whispered, "Us?"

"The young would have to be tested. Even sacrificed inside a harsh environment where their brain activity could be studied. All in an effort to understand what makes them different. What makes you different." She continued, "You may not realize it but you're very important. Unfortunately your trials have only just begun. As you'll no doubt soon discover not everyone agrees with our methods. Progress is slow, people are scared. It may be too late for us, for me. But not for you. The outside world awaits. Remember," Dr. Paige held a pistol to her head. "W.C.K.D is good." The shot went off.

         "Is it over?" Chuck asked.

"She said we were important," Newt replied. "What are we supposed to do now?"

Thomas snapped out of his frozen state, "I don't know. Let's get out of here."

I backed away and turned around.

"No," Gally stood ten feet away from me.

"Gally?" I asked. Thomas tried to approach him.

"Don't" Teresa stopped him. "He's been stung."

Gally held a gun.

"We can't leave," He stuttered.

"We did Gally," Thomas held his hands up. "We're out. We're free."

Gally's eyes were black which stood out against his paling skin. I stepped forward slowly, "Gally, it's okay. Put down the gun and let's talk."

"Free? You think we're free out there?" His voice broke. "No. There's no escape from this place."

I held my hands up, "Gally, It's okay. As long as we have each other everything will be okay."

"No," He croaked. "You don't belong with them."

Thomas walked up beside me slowly.

He moved the pointed gun from me to Thomas.

"Gally listen to me. You're not thinking straight. You're not. We can help you. Just put down the gun," Thomas encouraged calmly.

"I belong to the maze."

"Just put down the gun."

"We all do." His finger moved to the trigger.

In one motion a shot echoed, something slammed into Gally's chest, and someone screamed. We all gasped as the stung boy staggered backwards with a spear sticking out of him. Gally choked and fell to the ground. I looked over at chuck. He was staring at the floor, tilting slightly.

"Thomas," He said as he collapsed.

"No!" I screamed when I saw the growing blood stain on his shirt. Thomas and I lowered him to the ground. I held his head in my lap, "You're okay! You're going to be fine!" I sobbed.

"Chuck?" Thomas repeated in panic.

Thomas swore as he looked at the blood.

"Hey look at me," I tilted Chuck's head slightly. His soft eyes looked up at me.

"Just hang on," Thomas said as he tried to rip open Chuck's shirt. Chuck held up the carving he had made.

"No Chuck you're going to be okay," Thomas replied.

Warm tears streaked down my face.

"You're going to give it to them yourself right? I told you that," Thomas kep saying.

"Thank you," Chuck looked at me and then at Thomas. "Thank you."

Chuck went still.

"No," I said and tapped his cheek. "Chuck?!"

Thomas shook him, "Chuck? Hey! Chuck come on!" Thomas sobbed, "Wake up!"

I gently slipped out from under Chuck's head and ran to Newt.

Everyone was in tears.

"DANGIT!" Thomas sobbed. "We made it come on!"

Newt and I both sobbed. A door opened, letting brilliant white light into the lab. I felt large hands pull me away from Newt.

"No!" I fought them. "No chuck!"

The man led me out of the lab and towards a helicopter. I saw Newt waiting inside it already. He grabbed my arms and pulled me inside. We collapsed by a window and held each other.

Everyone made it on, still sobbing.

"You guys alright?" A man asked as he pulled his mask off. "Don't worry. You're safe now."

The helicopter lifted. I grabbed my brother's hand as we all looked out the window. It was indeed a maze. We all stared down at it as we flew over.

"Holy cow," Daniel breathed.

In the middle was the glade. A square surrounded by a mix of walls.

"Relax, kids. Everything is going to change," said the man.

No one said anything.

For how can words describe such terrible emotions?
