Once in a lifetime

~Qualifying~

Y/n's pov
We are all, except from my dad and Daniel, back into the pits waiting for me to be called for qualifying which starts in roughly 30 minutes. We all engage in some small talk as we wait for my dad to return and when he's does he comes with news about my dickhead of a brother.

"I've booked him a flight back. He's at the hotel packing and I've just gotten off the phone with Layla and she's furious" he explains making me sigh and drop my head. Why did he have to act like this?

It's never going to be the same again. I don't think I can ever look him in the eye and feel like he's my brother when all I can see is a monster who I now hate.

"Are you okay?" Lizzie softly asks as she rubs her hand up and down my back. Even though she's had such a bad experience today she's still concerned about me.

"I should be asking you that" I say lifting my head up to look her in the eyes.

"I'm fine, I was just in shock but it's over now" she says making me nod as she leans her head on my shoulder. Chris and scar are talking to my dad in the corner of the room and I think we can have a guess what about. "Are you gonna be okay to drive?"

"Yeah I'm fine it's just I don't get what his goal was. I spoke with him this morning and made it clear we was getting to know each other and we agreed to not let it get between us" I explain watching her as she listens to my every word.

"By 'it' I'm assuming you mean me" she says making me frown. "I'm sorry I just don't understand why he can't be happy for you. For us."

"Yup. Me too." I say before grabbing her hand. "But hey let's not let him get between us okay?" I offer, hoping to bring her some comfort.

"Yeah" she agrees giving me a quick kiss on the cheek making me smile.

"Y/n! Time to get in your car kiddo" dad shouts moving my attention away from the goddess sat next to me.

"I'll come see you before you drive out" Lizzie says as we stand up and embrace each other in a hug. When we pull apart I place one hand on her cheek and the other on her waist as one of her hands goes around my neck and the other on my chest. I pull her in for a quick kiss forgetting about the people surrounding us so it is cut short when we hear wolf whistles from my dad and team along side Chris and scar.

"Get it kiddo" my dad shouts making both me and Lizzie laugh as we pull apart.

"I'm happy for you both" scar adds making us both smile before Chris speaks up.

"I can't believe you've stolen my y/n" he fake pouts making Lizzie playfully tighten her grip on me.

"He's mine now loser" she defends before letting me go so I can get in my car ready for qualifying.

After putting my helmet and HANS device back on, I get into my car and make sure everything is working as it should such as my comms and drs. After going through all the necessary checks, Andrea tells me I've got 5 minutes until I have to leave the garage which gives me just enough time to speak to everyone.

"Just be careful out there y/n because you've got a lot on your mind so just be safe son. I'll inform Andrea on the situation and see what he wants to do with Daniels contract." dad says rubbing my shoulder.

"I will don't worry dad" I say as he offers me a smile before walking back over to Andrea and the rest of my team.

"You good?" Chris asks as him and scar crouch next to my car.

"Yeah I'm still pissed but I'll be fine" I honestly say. "How are you guys holding up?"

"We're good. Just worried for you and Lizzie because we know it's been a bit of a shit show today but just know that we're both here for you no matter what" scar says with a smile making me smile back as I nod my head.

"I appreciate that. Watch Lizzie for me okay" I say and they nod before walking away.

"Hey beautiful" I greet Lizzie when crouches next to me car looking into my eyes with those mesmerising green orbs I've grown to love more as I see them. She smiles and grabs one of my gloves hands and holds it between both of hers as she leans forwards to rest he forehead on the them.

"Please drive safe because I know your gonna be stressed" she softly says lowering our hands so she can look me in the eye.

"I will be don't worry. You stick with scar and Chris so I know your safe okay?" I say squeezing her hand hoping to bring her some comfort.

"I will. Go and smash it" she says just before Andrea says we've got 30 seconds till practice begins. Lizzie places a kiss on top of my gloved hand before pulling my visor down for me.

"See you soon" I say and she gives me a nod before going over to scar and Chris like she said she would.

Due to Daniel being put on reserve for the rest of the weekend our 3rd driver, Jake, is replacing him. Me and max are pretty good friends so I know he's gonna listen to whatever Andrea says unlike my selfish brother. A part of me somehow still cares for him because he's my family but no amount of love will outweigh the grudge I now hold against him and I'm pretty sure he knows that with the way our last encounter went. He deserved it though and nobody can tell me otherwise.

That's enough talk about a certain twat.
