Lanzhan finds himself in need of an Omega when his Nie Country visa application is denied and he's threatened with deportation. His quiet assistant, Weiying, just so happens to have dual citizenship. The problem? Making sure their romance is believa...
Lanzhan swallowed hard before he forced out a smile, struggling to ignore the way his heart was suddenly beating too fast in his chest.
“Of course, love,” he murmured.
Madam Lan looked between the two of them approvingly. “I’m glad that’s settled, then.”
Lanzhan tried to ignore Weiying for the rest of the meal. Well, not ignore Him —he still talked to him—but he tried to pretend he didn’t feel the fluttering in his stomach or the erratic thumping of his heart. He tried to ignore the warmth of his body, so close beside him in the booth, and the way that he could smell His perfume when he turned His head just right.
His uncle’s words from a week earlier echoed through his mind, and not for the first time since they’d had their tea.
But Lanzhan quickly pushed those thoughts away once more. He couldn’t entertain them, not even a little bit. If he did, Lanzhan worried that he just might fall in love with Him.

Weiying was sitting on top of the duvet on the bed reading a book when Lanzhan slipped into the room, his hair damp from a shower later that night. Lanzhan shut the door quietly behind him before he padded over to the dresser and grabbed the stack of blankets that were perched on the corner.
Weiying watched him. “My offer still stands.”
Lanzhan shook out a blanket and spread it over the floor. “It’s not a big deal, really.”
Weiying set his book down and rested his chin on his hand. “It’s a king-sized bed. There’s plenty of room. And it’s your bed.”
“I managed it at your parents’ house,” Lanzhan pointed out.
“For one night,” Weiying retorted coolly. “Need I remind you that we slept in the same bed the next night?”
“That was one night,” Lanzhan said. “Need I remind you that this is the arrangement for the next two weeks?”
“All the more reason to swallow your pride and sleep in the bed,” Weiying remarked. “With me.”
Lanzhan arched his brow at His. “You think this is about pride?”
“It’s about something, ” Weiying stated with a shrug. “If it’s not pride, then what is it?”
Lanzhan huffed out a breath as he came to grab his pillows off the bed. “It’s about personal space.”
“Oh, so you’d rather sleep on an uncomfortable floor rather than invade my space?” It was Weiying’s then to quirk His brow. “ I offered.”
“Yes, I know.” Lanzhan added the pillows to his makeshift bed. “But this is business , and the floor isn’t so bad.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Lanzhan laid down on the floor. He started scrolling through his phone. He looked up when he heard movement and saw Weiying wrapping Himself in the duvet and grabbing a pillow before he came to where he was laying and flopped down beside him.
“What are you doing?” Lanzhan asked His.
Weiying looked over at him with a faux-innocent smile. “You said the floor was more comfortable.”
Lanzhan exhaled hotly as he closed his eyes. “Get back in the bed, Weiying.”
He pointedly stretched out and let out a blissful sigh. “I don’t think so. It is pretty comfortable down Here.”
Lanzhan puhed himself up on one elbow and glared down his nose at His. “Weiying. Get in the bed.”
“Nope.” he smirked at him. “Not until you quit being stubborn and get up There too.”
Lanzhan gave His an incredulous look. “ I’m being stubborn? You’re the one who is insisting that I sleep in the bed with you.”
Weiying frowned thoughtfully. “Is it my personal space that you’re worried about, or yours?”
“No. Yes. Both.” Lanzhan let out an exasperated growl and pinched the bridge of his nose between his fingers. Then he looked at His. “You’re infuriating.”
Weiying shrugged. “Better learn to live with it.” He settled deeper into His pillow and closed His eyes. “Good night, Lanzhan.”
Lanzhan stared at him for a moment before he narrowed his eyes. He got onto his knees and scooped His up with one arm behind His knees and one underneath His neck. Weiying yelped in surprise as Lanzhan stood up and lightly tossed His on the bed.
Weiying pushed himself up on His elbows, His eyes wide with surprise. “What the hell?”
Lanzhan grabbed the blankets and pillows off of the floor and threw them onto the bed. Then he laid down next to Him.
“You win,” he growled.
Weiying scoffed. “Oh, like you don’t benefit. Your back will thank you.”
“Whatever.” He pulled a blanket over himself and settled against his pillows. “Good night, Weiying.”
He exhaled before he rolled over until his back was to him, His heart still racing in His chest. he could barely believe he’d just picked His up like that, like it was nothing.
But he was also a little satisfied, even if it was a bit petty. he’d won.
Weiying settled into his pillow and closed his eyes.

“Weiying seems like a lovely young Omega,” Madam Lan said to Lanzhan as they enjoyed lunch together at a local bistro near his apartment.
Lanzhan pushed his salad around. “Yeah, he is.”
Madam Lan praised her son. “I only wish you had told me sooner. And the wedding...it’s a bit sudden, don’t you think?”
“There’s nothing wrong with a short engagement,” Lanzhan mumbled.
“Of course not.” she pursed her lips. “Is he pregnant?”

Lanzhan dropped his chopsticks as he gaped at his mother. “What? No!”
“I had to ask.” Madam Lan gazed at him coolly. “That’s why your father and I had a short engagement, you know.”
Lanzhan picked up his chopsticks and pushed his food around some more. “I know. But Weiying isn’t.” Heat rose in his cheeks. “Pregnant, I mean.”
Madam Lan nodded. She took a contemplative sip of her wine. “Well, I suppose that’s good.” she arched her brow at him. “Although I wouldn’t be adverse to a grandchild or two.”
Lanzhan growled and raked one hand through his hair before he glared at his mother. “How do parents go from saying, don’t have sex to I want grandkids? ”
Madam Lan chuckled. “It’s just the way the world works.” Then she sobered. “I’m sorry for all the questions. I really am happy for you, Lanzhan.” she smiled warmly at him. “You deserve to be happy.”
Lanzhan couldn’t quite meet His gaze. “Thanks, Mom.”
