Dixie couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia as she and John arrived at the grand white mansion atop the hill in Escalera. It seemed like ages had passed since their intimate moment back at the cabin by Lake Don Julio, transforming it into distant memories.

As they dismounted their horses at the entrance gate, Dixie chose to keep a watchful eye on John from a safe distance. She held onto the reins of their horses, ensuring their safety while John took the lead.

Approaching the gate, John confidently approached the trio of Mexican men seated at a weathered table. Dixie knew it was crucial to have his back, so she remained vigilant, ready to support him if needed.

A man in a uniform was the first to address the man's approach as he stretch his arms out before standing letting them fall as he stood and walked towards the man

"What do you want, gringo?" He questioned John as both of the soldiers behind him followed, at first John didn't answer as he walked closer
"What are you doing here?"

The two soon came to a stop an arms reach from each other as Dixie watched from afar but still close enough to hear the conversation as the man's soldiers came to a halt a few paces behind their boss

"Have you heard, there's a war going on?" The man stated confused on what the two Americans where thinking

"My name is John Marston. I've been sent here to retrieve a couple of men. Can I speak to your commander?" John explained wanting to be as respectful as possible. Even though Dixie hasn't known him long she can tell he's has respect for the military even if they been the ones chasing him

The three Mexican men shared a look before the same man spoke,
"You want to talk to my boss, gringo?" He asked John almost as if he hadn't heard the bounty hunter right the first time

"I guess." John answered simply

"Because I am not good enough for you?" The same man questioned and Dixie had to hold her eye roll

"No, sir." John answered already seeing where this was headed

"You think you're better than me?" The man asked tauntingly and John didn't answer, the man stepped closer and in return Dixie's hand rested on her revolver watching the three's movements wait for one of them to make a move she didn't like "You come to my country, my poor little country, and you think you can be friends with the president?"

John chuckled nervously before answering the angry man hoping to defuse the conversation "No, sir. I am sorry, sir. Things must have come out wrong." ,Dixie smirked to herself at her partners word's because as she come to learn that's an understandable,
"Maybe you can help me?" John asked

"You'll be sorry, friend." The same man said taking threatening steps closer as the two soldiers gripped their rifles better pointed them at John, the man himself back up a little and his hand hovered above his own hip weapon and Dixie's fingers wrapped around hers but something about the men's behavior paused her from holstering it

And she was proven right as she let out a sigh of relief she didn't realize she was holding as the man started laughing loudly while pointing at John soon his soldiers followed suit and laughed as well
