A few days later Dixie walked out her fathers home a small bag in hand and as set the hat back on top of her head before she secured the bag into the back of her horses saddle and fed her trusty steed a fresh carrot as dark horse with a light hair mane and tail trotted down the houses road

"Mornin' Dixie, how are feeling?" John asked as he neared

"Mornin' Johnny, I'm doin good how about yourself?" She asked with a smile

"About as good as I look" he answered with smirk

"Oh, I'm sorry you feel like a rotting corpse." She replied with a sweet smile

"hardy fucking harr, crazy woman." He said with a chuckle

She laughed as well but their conversation was cut short as her father stepped out of the house

"Marston, come here, boy." He ordered seeing the man

John got off his horse and walked over stepping up the houses stairs

"Alright, boy. We gotta have a conversation." The Marshal said and John nodded waiting for the man to speak "listening John, your a good man you take care of your own, but Dixie she's special, one just simply by the fact she'll you first to kill you if hurt or get her hurt in anyway, and I'll call what's left of you." Marshal told him

"I promise you, Mr. Johnson I ain't goin' to hurt her or get her hurt, if we're being honest, Dixie's riding with me to protect me" John told him with a smile as the man lit a cigar

"Your right, son. Just return my girl to me that's all I ask and I'll assist you in penetrating Fort Mercer" Leigh told him and held his hand out and John shook it

"I'll return her safe and sound I promise." He told her father, John was then shocked a little when the Marshal put a few expensive cigars in the man's hand

With a thankful nod the two men ended the conversation and John walked back to his horse carefully putting the smokes in his saddle bag

He stood by his horse and gently brushed the animals fur as Dixie walked up to her father and he walked as the two shared a long hug the older man holding his only child tight and with a kiss to her forehead they separated then a small smile formed on his face as the Marshal swapped one of his guns for hers so they both have something of the other while separated

Dixie kissed her dad cheek in a final goodbye before she walked down the steps and with a smile to John they both climbed into their saddles

"What's first, John?" She questioned the man after waving goodbye to her father as he watched the two's horses carry them away from his porch before heading inside

"Oh your goin' love it, Dix." He told her with tone of playfulness

"No don't tell me." She groaned

"Nigel West Dickens" they both said at the same time and John laughed a little as Dixie groaned and threatened to return home

Entering Armadillo the two immediately spotted the con man yelling from the doctor office door way
