Lanzhan froze. "What?"
Jiang Cheng used Lanzhan's momentary pause to lunge forward and land a punch on Lanzhan's face. Lanzhan staggered back.
"Hey, no headshots!" Huaisung exclaimed.
"What the hell, Jiang Cheng?" Weiying snapped.
Jiang Cheng ignored them as he glared at Lanzhan. "You fucking heard me. What the fuck did you do?"
Lanzhan wiped a drop of blood from the corner of his mouth before he glared at him. "I didn't do shit ."
Jiang Cheng jabbed out again, but Lanzhan was ready for him. He blocked the punch and Jiang Cheng shoved against him.
"Did you bribe him?" Jiang Cheng demanded to know, slamming his hands against Lanzhan's chest and pushing him back. "Coerce him? Threaten him?"
Lanzhan felt anger boil up within him. Jiang Cheng was way over the line. He shoved Jiang Cheng back, hard. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Jiang Cheng's lip curled back in a snarl. "Or are you just playing with him, and he has no idea?"
"Watch it, buddy," Lanzhan hissed.
Jiang Cheng slammed into him again. "Don't fucking lie, asshole! I knew this whole thing was off from the minute you got here!"
Lanzhan shoved him back. "Back the fuck up, bro. You don't know what you're talking about."
"Hey, what the hell is wrong with you?" Weiying strode out onto the mat. The friendly match was clearly not "friendly" anymore.
Jiang Cheng wheeled on his, jabbing a finger at Lanzhan. "His fucking immigration lawyer called me. Did you know he's about to be deported?"
Huaisung gaped at them, his eyes widening in shock. " What? "
Jiang Cheng curled his lip at Lanzhan. "Yeah, and marrying Weiying is just for citizenship."
Lanzhan shook his head. "You don't know what the fuck you're talking about."
Jiang Cheng ignored him as he faced his brother. "Did you know, Weiying?"
Weiying looked back and forth between his brother and Lanzhan. What could he say? Would he believe him if he kept up the lie? He knew he wouldn't. It was clear by the look on his face. The gig was up.
Weiying took a deep breath to steady himself, closing his eyes briefly. "Yes."
Jiang Cheng stared at him for a moment as he processed it, jaw slightly agape. He blinked owlishly before he found his voice. " What? "
Lanzhan was staring at him with wide eyes, but Weiying pressed on. "Yes, I knew. That's why...that's why I agreed to rush the engagement." he paused to smile in what he hoped was an adoring way at Lanzhan. "Because I couldn't bear the thought of losing him."
"Holy shit," Huaisung breathed.
"Are you serious?" Jiang Cheng asked him, still stuck in disbelief.
Weiying nodded. He interlocked his fingers with Lanzhan's. "Yes. I...I love him, Jiang Cheng. And when his visa application was denied, we panicked. But we knew he couldn't get deported if he married an Nie citizen, so here we are." he shrugged. "And that's the truth."
For a moment, no one said anything. Jiang Cheng stared at his brother, his expression unreadable as he processed everything he had just been told. Lanzhan stood tensely, ready to run or hit Jiang Cheng if he needed to. Weiying met his brother's gaze unwaveringly, his countenance neutral, never letting go of Lanzhan's hand. Huaisung's eyes flickered between all of them, as if he was waiting to see how this was going to play out.
