"Good night soon-to-be wifey."

"That's so cheesy!"

"I know but you love it."

The next morning brought clear, sunny skies and a warm breeze. I awoke to Newt cuddle into my back with his long arms around my waist. The soft sound of leaves rustling in the wind echoed softly around us. I slowly rolled over and kissed newt. He smiled, "I could get used to this."

"Get used to it," I smiled and kissed him again.

He yawned, "Wake-up time already?"

As if on cue the sound of Alby banging a stick against the metal wall of the boys sleeping hut echoed across the glade.

"Yep."

He groaned, "No."

I laughed and sat up. I grabbed Newt's sweater off the floor and pulled it on. It just fit because he was tall. My comb was on my shelf so I grabbed it and detangled my hair before re-braiding it in it's usual style.

"We're going to have to tell Danny," My fiance said from where he was still laying on the bed.

"He's going to be excited," I said and then paused. My stomach was cramping horribly.

"Uh Zoe," Newt said.

"What?" I asked.

Newt was staring at something lower on me, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine why do you ask?"

"You have blood down by your," He motioned to me.

Oh no. Oh dangit! I looked down. Sure enough there was a red stain that ran between my legs. "Oh crud."

Newt stood up, "Did you hurt yourself?"

"No Newt! I got my, curse."

My poor boyfriend looked so confused.

"Okay uh. So every month my body produces a cell, it's called an egg. Um, It's what a baby is partly made of but if it doesn't get, um, if I don't get pregnant the lining my body would have used for the baby comes out. It's called a period. Every girl gets one usually."

Newt went pale.

"It's normal. It happens every month. Kind of like a new greenie."

"But you're bleeding!"

"It's not actually blood! Calm down. It just looks like blood," I choked. I was totally embarrassed.

"Hey it's fine," He hugged me. "Let's get you cleaned up okay?"

"I'm so embarrassed," I whispered.

"You've got absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about love. I was just worried about you. But now I know so I can be prepared next time."

I dried the stray tears and smiled.

I changed behind the curtain we had set up.

Newt passed me my box with my supplies, "I'm going to tell Alby you're taking the day off."

"I won't refute that," I said. My stomach was killing me.

I grabbed a pair of my underwear, then changed into my black leggings that had come up in the box with Molly, and settled myself back in bed. I grabbed Newt's sweater and pulled it on over my tank top.

Newt pushed aside the curtain and walked in with a tray balanced on his arm, "Okay we got the day off."

"You don't need to babysit me," I laughed.

"Nah, I've been owed a day off for a long time," He chuckled and out the tray down on the table. "Daniel is going to come see you later. Him and the builders are working on expanding the barn today."

I nodded and cuddled my pillow.

"Here," Newt passed me a small white pill and a cup of water. "Clint sent this."

"Oh thanks." I took the pill and drained the water in one gulp.

Newt sat down beside me and relaxed against the wall, "So this means you can have a baby?"

I looked down at my middle, "Yes, it does." The one thing the creators hadn't taken from me.

"I guess that's a good thing. Would you ever want one?" He asked.

"What? A baby?"

He blushed and nodded.

"Well, yes. Maybe. One day. Do you?"

He nodded, "I've always been determined I would be a good father. I don't want our baby growing up without a dad."

Our baby.

"You'll be a great dad," I smiled and laid my head in his lap. Newt smiled and stroked my cheek with his thumb, "One day."

"One day."

When I was able to walk without significant pain Newt and I joined the gladers for lunch. No one asked what happened to me. They just smiled or waved when I walked by. Something told me Newt had something to do with that. Frypan served us our soup and bread before we sat down with my brother, Molly, and Winston.

Daniel pushed my chair out for me with his foot, "Feeling better?"

"A bit," I said and sat down beside Molly. She smiled at me sympathetically.

"No running today?" I asked her.

"Minho took Ben out with him today," She said after swallowing a bite of food. "I've been helping Winston with the goats."

Winston laughed.

"Shut up," Molly rolled her eyes.

"What did we miss?" Newt asked. Daniel laughed, "Only Molly getting dragged by Mildred on her butt."

Molly tossed some peas at my brother, "It wasn't my fault okay?"

I tossed more peas at my brother.

He held up his empty plate as a shield, "Hey Newt come on bro. You gonna let these chicks bully me like this?!"

Newt tossed a pea at my brother. Daniel glared at him jokingly, "I see where your loyalties lie."

"If you four don't grow up I'll have to give you all a time out in the slammer!" Alby laughed, half serious.

"Alby these shanks are harassing me!" Danny whined.

"The only shank I see over there is you Daniel," Alby replied and tossed a pea at my brother.

"Oh get destroyed!" I laughed.

Daniel pretended to pout and eat his soup.

Newt smiled at me before he stood up.

I blushed as my fiance quieted everyone.

"Everyone," He smiled at me. "I have an announcement to make."

All the gladers turned in their seats to stare at him.

"Zoe and I are engaged."

Molly squealed and hugged me, "You're getting married?!"

Everyone around us clapped or hollered with excitement. Newt pulled me to my feet and kissed the top of my head, "I love you future wife."

I kissed his ear.

Alby congratulated us. I'm surprised he didn't object.

Newt sat back down.

"That was so cheesy," I giggled.

"But you love it," He leaned over the table and kissed it.

"Of course I do."
